Sorry for the random thread, but I came across this S-class on e-bay... I don't think I've ever seen an S-class this nice before...
I think it's the rims that do it... 22"... I wonder how it rides with wheels that big.
What do you guys think? (BTW, not considering buying... if I could, I would.)

2001 Lorinser Edition CL600 (SOLD)
Color-keyed rims - the only way to go! I would go much deeper dish in rear though. The kit? That's a matter of taste. Lorinser is a very extreme look; some will love it, some will hate it. I should know. I had one on my CL600. Would I do it again on the new cars? Don't know right now. Wait till the Lorinser kit is on the new CL and then we'll see.
I think the stock look like Nevada Jack's looks strong so long as the car is kept up, paint is like factory new and the style is cutting edge (which it is for now), but, for me, I like to customize my cars. That's just me. I want people to know it's got my signature. I want it to stand out from all the others in its class. Otherwise, all you have is just another over-priced assembly line car that anyone with $$$ buys and sticks in the garage or in the parking lot with all the other everday mundane fare. Big deal. You ain't nothing special once every other neighbor in your guard-gated community has the lastest model too.
I've posted on the issues of customization so much before, it could fill a book, but I'll illuminate on the subject once again.
Those who go on ranting that it's ghetto or too bling-ish to trick out a Benz are obviously close-minded to the merits of individual expression and creativity and are nothing but staunch conservatives with no ***** and no style! Are these the same people that would condone the tattooed, pierced, spikey-haired, sloppy, dressed-down look of young guys today? If so, then they're nothing but hyprocrits. Those guys have their own look that fits them, and, even though I personally don't like it doesn't mean it is isn't part of what makes fashion fashionable.
In terms of expression, auto fashion is absolutely no different than other types of fashion that will always be in a constant state of flux. That being said, true pleasure of the automotive experience and the love affair that surrounds it in terms of aesthetics is summed up in one sentence:
One doesn't drive a car; one wears it!

your opinion has merit......i wouldnt mind a car with limo tints so dark that nobody else could see me. I like to think a car is part of my personal space...to get away from the world. If i want to race, then that is a different function too...which the s550 really isnt built for.
I get plenty of attention in the hospital already....i cherish my privacy....but now I dont drive a car for fashion or to stand out....but that's just me.

I'm also more of a BRABUS than LORINSER fan in latter years .
Those are AVUS wheels and yes the fitment is a little soft, could stand a touch more aggression.
