Yes. Both are Available. They are treating them the way Merc treats the S600 and S63 AMG in terms of market category and pricing.

Both are available. He said the car is lightining fast, and is a simply amazing auto...but he feels it's not worth the money compared to what he was paying for the A8L (and money is no object for him). The S8 has a 52% residual (NY) for a 27mos lease. His payments are north of $2,700!!!! I pay $1,999.21 for my Designo...and I put down ZERO...not even the $495 bank fee!!!!

$2700 a month for an S8............. jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.......

I thought $1999 for an S550 Designo was a lot - but i guess its not since you put $0 down. But still, $2000 for an S550 to me still seems like a lot.
But that Audi for $2700+ ...... OUCH!

Woah - $176K for something that looks no more than a $35K car, if that!

Are these guys at Audi on drugs?

Only an idiot would pay that kind of $$$$ for such automotive banality

But, like the old saying goes, there's an *** for every seat and a sucker born every minute!

My car listed out slightly under $112,000. Taxes are in the payment. I think the residual was 61% and the money factor was slightly under 4%.

Chucky if you could get a pic of the Exclusive edition A8 that would be great, or provide me with a link to get info. I have searched online (only a simple google not too extensive), and I have seen nothing that says 176k for a a8. The most expensive IMO is the A8L W12 starting @ 120k. Perhaps it has bespoke options from GmBH or even aftermarket work @ the local dealership.

The S8 with gallardo v10 and B&O is my car to get if i had 110k. Taurian, if money is not an option for your B&L and he is paying at least 73k for the lease, plus fee and down payment, perhaps he should have just purchased it instead of lease.

The S8 drops in value when you come off the lot like Sirius Radio shares if Howard Stern quit. That car is going to get slammed, and the dealer will tell you that. Plus, you have to deal with selling it. Write it through the company and pay for it with pre-tax dollars. Plus, in 2 years...have the freedom to get what you want. He will go back to the regular A8L.

Again...I was in love with the S8. THANKFULLY I went Designo...not even on the same planet...

I just love how the B-pillar trim integrates with the door panel to complete that rectangle of alcantara... I wish the S-class door panel flowed into the B-pillar like the audi.

What a wonderfully eloquent post--I wish I could write as well as you.

Audi's are great cars, and the A8 is a solid, beautiful, and very cool car. I'm sorry you're too dense and unsophisticated to appreciate it.

Quote: I know I will for ever be tainted by the Audi 5000 fiasco!
You too? And I can top that: I had an 100LS before the 5000S. If I remember correctly, the Audi dealer that did the repair work on the 100LS referred to it as 'Hitler's Revenge'...

Quote: Audis are amazing car. Who cares about the stupid Audi 5000 fiasco.
The early history of Audi that you refer to was not just the 500S with the unintended acceleration problem (which I never believed). Audis had terrible reliability with the 100LS, 5000S and Fox (which was really a Volkswagen.) I owned all three in the mid-70's to early 80's and they were horrendous vehicles with electrical problems, fuel injection problems, oil-burning problems on the 5000 Turbo, etc. etc. My favorite was when I had to almost mortgage (kidding, of course) my home to do a brake job on the 100LS because it had inboard disc brakes.

I'll never get past those cars, even though 30 years later I'm sure Audi builds a lot better automobile. I don't remember the year, but at one time Audi was almost no more here in the US, but survived the battle and remained. It’s hard for me to believe that an Audi could be ‘worth’ spending $160k…

Audi
I have had two 5000s, two V8 Quattros and three A8s.
All very very nice.
I have older S models and the A8 has a better interior in my opinion.
The A8 is faster than the typical older S500.
The only thing is, Audis have very little soul or character compared to MB S series.
They are a sort of distilled version of Euro and Asian builds.
I like the Lexus wannabe models even less. No road feel at all.
