Audi A8l W12 Exlusive Edition = $176,000

Hey Everyone!
I went to see an Audi today. NO i am not buying one - but I just was in the area (park avenue / 48th St) and I saw a really beautiful A8 W12. Looked like a Capri Blue - with 20" Wheels. Interior was stunning - Rear Seats were the 2 seat setup. Champagne color with black piping - and Champagne Alcantara Roof. So much leather, and SO much wood all over. Really - I must tell you - It completely outshined the S550 / S600 interior. Please no yelling at me - I am just being honest. However, The kicker is, the car's MSRP was $176,000. Seriously.......... WTF is AUDI doing? $176,000 for one of their cars is comparable to the mistake that VW made when they put out a $75,000 Phaeton.

Try as they may... it's not a Merc. It's just an Audi! The legacy does not compare. I know I will for ever be tainted by the Audi 5000 fiasco!

Hey
Well - Truth is - I will always be a Benz Driver. Im 25, and this is my 2nd S. However, That W12...... with that interior, IS (no joke) much more beautiful than my S550s. It really - looks like Audi went all out to make the most AMAZING inside.
$176,000......... they can keep it...

Yea, and check out the transmission...mine was lousy. Hard downshift that never went away in my 2006 W12. Many other problems too. I will never buy another one...at any price.

Exterior looks are bland - but inside this particular car was beyong beautiful. SOMEONE please go take a quick visit this weekend to the Audi Dealership. Im sure if you are in the NYC area..... you can spare 20 minutes....... back me up at least on the looks from the interior.

Sure you are. Just because VW owns Audi and Audi makes such lousy cars, I won't hold you responsible.

I love the A8 interior. IMO, it's by far the best looking out of BMW (no ****!) and MB.

These pictures don't do it justice at all!

Lightbulb Audis have a questionable quality

Back in the '70s I had a couple of Porsche 911s, and I usually had to rent an Audi Fox if I didn't want to wait all day for the service department to work on my cars. Back then, Audis were a joke and junk (at least the Foxes were although I enjoyed driving them - I think there was also a 100S at the time).

I think that they are much better now, but I don't think I will ever get over the "junky reputation" that they had back then, at least to us old guys; quite unlike their Porsche cousins, who had a good reputation but also had their reliability and longevity problems.

Today, from what I have read, I would not have a Porsche or an Audi without a warranty in effect. In fact, that is the way I also feel about a Mercedes, and bought an extended warranty on mine, just in case.

For a few ten grand less, perhaps it'd be considerable.
But for close to 200k$ money does not become ANYTHING and the Flying Spur just gets more and more possible.

Love the second color of the seats, however that light *** wood is not doing it for me. I was fortunate enough to see a BMW X5 with the dark Bamboo, and WOW. That looked amazing. I want bamboo in my next car.

Its a shame MBUSA wont bring the premium interior options over from Europe. Granite, Piano Wood, are just to name a few of the many different choices they have.

Audis are amazing car. Who cares about the stupid Audi 5000 fiasco, it was later found fault in the consumers being too finicky about the brake pedal and accelerator pedals too close to each other causing Audi having to address it and lose alot of money. Fast forward 20 years later, Audi are very competititve in this segment, dont get me wrong. My 2006 A8L is immaculate and I have allready put 35,000 miles on it with no problem. I hate to say that my old Benz S500 2004 model was so unreliable and I have personally spoke with Zietche about this since his son went to my son's high school in Beverely Hills, Michigan when Zietche was head of Chrysler in Auburn Hills, MI. Zietche told me that the 1999-2006 S Classes were the most dissapointment ones in terms of quality but assured me of course that the latest product offerings of Mercedes are going to be much better. I can definitely see that since now Zietche is the head of Mercedes Benz. He also told me that they admittedly benched the interior quality to be same as Lexus and Audi, and thats quite surprising. But other than that Audis are going to be amazing with the R8 and future A5, etc.

Chucky,

I had a "thing" for Audi as most of you may remember...I was in love w/the S8. Well, my brother in law just got the car. Yeah, he was showing be the interior, bragging about how much better it is than MB. So, what did I do? I opened the door to my Designo Mocha S550/AMG.

He was floored. For $160K+ Audi can keep it. Take an S550, choose a Designo option, Rear Seat package, RSE, and have the best off it all.

I am sorry, but what Audi is 160k??? Also, the pictures posted could not be the 'exclusive edition' because there is the 5 person seating in the last picture. Maybe the picture of the car with the light interior is this 'ex ed' however I have yet to find any info/confirmed pictuers of this car, can anyonehelp?

I'd have to agree that Audi uses beautiful, high quality materials for their interiors; however, the design just seems too dated for me, too conservative. The 7-Series is too far in the opposite extreme. That's why the S-Class is so perfect this time - it's just modern enough while retaining plenty of class and grace.

Your car is Designo - its seriously upgraded compared to mine. However, The S8 doesnt have Exclusive Package - if you are in NYC, go to the dealer on park and 47th. Its sitting right there in the showroom. Really magnificent.

Does your brother in law like the S8 ???? Get some pics if you can, It must be so fast - its the Gallardo engine!!

I thought the S8 replaced the A8 W12. Are both cars still available?
