If you have a used car dealer friend, he would get 10-20% off the list price by buying it under his license. Worth a try if you know someone. Also in some states it is a requirement that your insurance replaces cracked windshields @NC to you no matter who is at fault you may want to check with your insurance company on that also.
Good luck, $1100 I think is reasonable compared to some other things Mercedes pulls off.

In the UK we pay the first $100 and the insurance picks up the rest.

Most insurance covers windshield replacement under your comprehensive coverage. Some have no deductable while some might have like $100 or $150...I'd call your insurance company to check.

I will be having my windshield replaced in the next day or two. I posted images of it a few weeks ago but it has spread up the windshield. My insurance would pay for repair but yesterday the company that does repair told me it cannot be repaired. I will have it replaced at the dearlership where they have their own installer and use the factory windshields only. I will have to pay my deductible on comprehesive coverage which is $1000...an amount I feel isn't totally out of line for a $108K car. I don't know what the total cost is but should know by early next week when the work should be done.
Guess I'm glad for one thing MA insurance does, no deductible glass/windshield repairs/replacements.

I guess we have it good here. Florida has a zero deductible for a windshield replacement with a comprehensive policy.
I saw the insurance invoice on a new mini windshield install and it was $860!... $1,100 sounds cheap.

Access to Carfax
I just got the service history on my car and found out that the windshield has been replaced, but I don't know who did it, or how much it cost the previous owner.
The reason I know this is that there was a service visit when the customer complained that the rain sensing wipers were not working properly after the windshield was replaced.
Anyway, this makes me wonder if this damn thing was wrecked. Does anyone know if we can see the Carfax report on their website? The dealer didn't give me one when I bought this beast.

I had the glass in the CLS55 replaced this week. My deductible from Sate Farm was $35, and they used factory glass, PPG Solextra. It all depends on the insurance plan you have.

I think the better question is does anyone know the reason for the **** all over the roads. I was driving my Dad's Cadillac back in high school and some metal thing flew right into the window and cracked it. Then this summer a rock hit my windshield. I don't know what to do with it because its not bad at all, just this tiny tiny little nick with no cracks, but its right in my line of sight so its annoying. Also whenever it rains the wipers leave this line from it.

Are you crazy, that's not a reasonable price. I got my windshield replaced for $175. My friend got his porshe windshield replaced for $200. Go to a auto glass shop and the MOST you should pay is $300.
