TV/DVD Free
The German supplier/developer seems to have an English site available for more information. I use the 221 TV/DVD since the beginning Sept 2006 and it worked within 20 seconds.

Mercedes S-Class W 221 (TV Activator)
With the DiagSoft OBD II Mercedes W 221, opening the TV-DVD facility is as easy as ABC. In just a few seconds you can unlock the facility in the customers car itself. All the necessary installation connections, codes and options are automatically carried out by the software. You only have to push a key (green) for the TV facility to be activated

This device most likely hooks up to the OBD port (onboard diagnostic port) usually located under the dash on most vehicles. I haven't checked to see where it is on our cars. Once hooked up, you are able to modify features on your car using codes. For example, to turn on the DVD feature, you may have to change a "0" to a "1" or "2" on the module. Many times changing the codes from one country code to another country code makes a group of changes in one move. Some changes can be undesirable and may affect something such as gas mileage computations on your car.
Many of these devices are well worth the money. They can save you time and money going to the service shop for trivial tasks that you can do yourself within minutes. If , for example, the MB service tech changes your oil and forgets to reset the "service engine" light then you can reset it yourself within minutes and save yourself the aggravation of having to go back just to have this done. I had a VAGCOM for my VW and it came in handy all the time. You actually need this more than a toolkit.
