Is the dealer lying?
I'm guessing he is telling the truth since he is letting me order a car to my exact specifications except that one feature, so there is no reason for him to scam me on that.
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
So for example, when my dealer tried to add Distronic Plus to my order, netstar wouldn't accept the addition, even though other cars were made last month with distronic. Likewise if you tried to add the dynamic seats to another car last month, it would say no, even though my car was built last month with that option.
So to get most of what I wanted on my car, my dealer had to trade with another dealer for a scheduled car which already had almost everything I wanted, minus the distronic plus.
But that was the only way he was able to get the multicontour seats and ABC and the other things I wanted.
So it may be that your dealer tried to add the dynamic multicontour seats and it wouldn't take it, but that might just be because that dealer doesn't have the allocation to do it. He might have to trade with someone who does have a production slot already with dymanic seats.
I hope this helps. And best of luck with the ordering process. It is a major ordeal if you have specific options in mind. You can do a search on this board for some interesting stories. However, it should be worth the hassle. I'll tell you in a week or two.
Distronic Plus
Dynamic Multicontour seats
ABC
And there are reports of difficulty getting the rear view monitor and night view assist, also.
On a different topic, I had posted a note earlier, I was wondering if you will be paying MSRP or are you negotiating a few K off of it?
Thanks!

On the pricing, I'm not aggressive or patient enough to ever really drive a good deal on my own in my personal life. I like to think of it as I'm a very good tipper.

So I got a mediocre, at best, "deal" at $3,500 off. To give you an idea what I could have gotten, as soon as I asked for that my salesperson said "sure, no problem" and wrote it write down. No checking with the "manager" and I swear I saw him suppress a small smile. I don't feel too bad about it, though, because they did end up having to trade a higher margin car for mine, and maybe they wouldn't have done that if they weren't making so much on it.
But others have done much better. It definitely depends on what options your car has, and geography. For example, 4matic cars seem to be getting a slimmer discount up north. And ABC cars might be harder to deal on given their apparent scarcity in the US.
Hope this helps.

My situation is a little tricky. I "pre-traded" my car in to secure a better value (I don't want to drive it anymore anyways), the car is supposed to get here in June.
I don't even know if I should negotiate now or wait till the car gets here. We've already agreed that if I pull out in June, they would just cut me a check for the trade in value which is a great deal for me...
I'm in Seattle BTW.

So you have a PO number and a build date and all that? I ask because my first and second "orders" for this S550 weren't worth the paper they were printed on because I didn't have a PO from Mercedes. Wasted a lot of time in my case.
Seems to me in your situation, you're better off waiting to negotiate a deal after the car is here.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I guess I'll wait till the car gets here to negotiate.

With the Plus, your car will actually stop if the car in front is too close (think rush hour traffic) and restart it once the car in front moves again and keep a set distance between the two cars.
Let me know if this is confusing
