20's are PERFECT...need help though

Today i swapped in some S65 20" wheels/tires. At first i wasnt sure it would matter even though both previous cars(X5 and SL55) i upgraded by an inch and both made a huge difference. I didnt think i would notice due to this big land yacht s550, but it made a huge difference from the stock 19" AMG's.

Question....is it possible to reset the TPMS? I think the 20's still have them inside and the guy who sold them said they were. Sure he could have lied, but the balancing weights are the stock weights (i think) and the tires were brand new, but without stickers. I drove home 40 miles with my stock 19's in the car. The COMAND said tire pressure monitors were not connected. Im wondering if they were still "reading" the stock tires that were still in the car but not rolling.

pics attached first 2 are 20's and 3rd is with the 19's....looks lower, handles much more crisp, ride is slightly stiffer and louder but very tolerable.

help with resetting the TPMS if possible.

Hey doctodd, congrats on the wheels. They looks great. I also have the same problem. I have been driving my car for almost a month now with that light on. I switched my 18 to 19 by myself and the guy that sold me the rims said that they were on it. I was also wondering how we can reset that.

same here similar problem: bought a set of wheels but no TPMS. Going to have a local wheel/tire shop try to transfer my stock ones over to see it works. But it'll be great to see if someone knows how if this will work, and how to reset the TPMS.

Remember, the sensors are position sensitive as it is calibrated @ the dealerships. The shop that is transfering the sensors have to make sure the sensors are at the same position. (Right front, Left front,...)

Also remember that certain valve stem caps are non compatible with the new TPMS.

do you mean the little plastic caps? At first i thought they were metal cuz they were gray in color, but when i took one off i noticed they were plastic just like any other.

I will double check on the position of each wheel....thx

i ended up swapping from my old rims. Cost was about $140 at a local Goodyear store and the time to have my dad help in his pickup. The dealer wanted $375 each or something like that.....when i said the parts were way too expensive he said "you have an expensive car". I thought about getting some from a VW on ebay for $10 each and trying that out, but i just didnt have the time to experiment.

So, you finally just use the TPM from your old 19" AMG wheels?? That's a good idea rather buying a new one which will cost you a lot.

I really like the 20" AMG wheels. One of my fav AMG 1pc wheels by far
