I saw a 221 s class here which had matte wood. The person who did the post said he ordered it that way...a no charge option. My dealer says that it is not available and never has been.

Can you get matte wood on the 221 or 216 (cl)? I am not talking about the Designo package.

 

I'm not even sure what that looks like. Is that the non-glossy wood as seen in some CLS vehicles?

 

In the UK you can get Silk Matt or gloss Walnut wood. The trim is $560 and the Silk matt walnut steering wheel is $920 as an option.

 

Not sure where you are in the world but to date the only matte wood I have seen in a US spec 221 is in the Designo Graphite Edition 550/600. I am sure it varies from market to market.

Matte wood is a standard W221 wood trim option which costs the same as the darker glossy burlwood here in M.E. It looks best on standard black/black interior as opposed to other combinations (see attached photo below).

The W221 matte wood is almost similar in color to the one on W220. However, the older option is far better because it was shiny and glossy while the new one on W221 is not and is more like washed out. This is subject to personal taste and combined interior color but according to few local distributors it less sold than other wood types.

It doesn't look to me much different than 2007scalsss.com posted pictures of the Designo Graphite Edition option.

It is available on the CL as well.

 

Yuck. I don't like that ,however, I bet it doesn't show scratches as easily.

 

Yuck x 2. The light one on W220 was way superior, don't know why ruin a successful option.

 

My 2007 S550 ( not a Designo package,) has matte burl walnut wood. It was ordered as a no charge option. ( March post 2007, with pictures.)
I suggest your dealer has a look at the Mercedes Benz web site for Canada.
The standard for the Canada S550 is matte wood for the 2008's, and a no charge option exists for the high gloss burl walnut wood. ( The reverse was true for the 2007 here.)
"Not available and never has been" is a bit of a wrong statement.
By the way, I had the car for 6 months now. I have had no regrets buying it. An outstanding vehicle!
Only minor problem, which the dealer fixed, was re-programming the trany and engine module. Otherwise, trouble free.

 

What colour is the interior? It is a Designo Colour.
