S 600 vs S 550
buyers remorse? say it isn't so...
I've already committed to a well priced new '07 s600. This has all the options one could want in a 550 plus of course the big motor. They depreciate like stink, but I'm hoping I made the right choice. Anyone out there switched from the S 550's to the 600's and glad/or sorry they did? I'm asking myself if I am a little to crazy or over the top. Sane people tell me I should have just got the 550 with the options. Your support is appreciated and may take a load off my mind. thanks!!

The only thing in the S600 that you dont/cant get on the S550 is:
1) The V12 which is OBVIOUSLY better....
2) The Exlusive Leather.... which I dont quite know why it would be considered like "Night and Day" with the Premium leather in the S550.
3) Alcantara headliner.... ok its nice - but... its not a make or break option.
Am I missing something?
You can't get sports package on the S600 which you can on S550.....
Don't get me wrong - its a sick car.... fast as hell... gorgeous.... but - its "different".

Hi Carsnob,
I have owned an 2008 S600 for two weeks... it is a phenomenal vehicle... whoover is right, there is nothing quite like a V12... its torque and performance - especially at low revs is in a whole different league... the S600 feels (well is) the S Class in its most "complete" form, and though the feeling is intangible... as the flagship model my S600 feels particularly well put together with great care and attention...
Interior wise, it's all in the details... in addition to the Exclusive leather and Alcantara headliner, the dash is fully covered in leather and nicely stitched/seamed... there is little plastic visible in the interior at all except the surrounds of the seat controls, the inside of the instrument cluster, and the grab handles... there are also extra burl inserts in the doors, real armrests, and on the phone cover... though you are looking at a 2007 S600 the 2008 S600 in addition has revised seats, door inserts, and Alcantara headliner pattern... When you sit in an S550 after an S600 the difference is noticeable...
Though I came to the S600 after seriously considering an S63, I did price out an S550 with all options and given that already puts you in the c. $110,000 league... at this elevated price point seems you must surely be close to an 2007 S600 anyway...
I suspect that as you have considered/can afford an S600 that your buyers remorse will be considerably worse if you do get an S550... knowing you have spent a large amount of money and that for a little extra you could have had an S600... At this price level your heart is as much a part of your buying decsion...

2007 S600. 2005 Carrera GT. 2007 Range Rover SC. 2008 BMW X5. 1967 SS Chevelle.
Even if they were the exact same cars both interior and exterior, the V12 TT twin Turbo motor alone for most people would be reason enough to get the 600 over the 550.
I drove the 550 and seriously considered it before the 07 600 but the feel of the power was so far off from the V12 it just didnt feel right to me.
I suggest driving it for an hour or so.
