Thats the best looking S class I've ever seen.
Black Opal WAS my favorite MB color... it has a lot more blue tone to it than Maj Black. This looks fabulous. I want one!

can you tell us what the paint code is? Mb use a 3 digit code to identify all colors worldwide ie balck is 040, and standard mercedes benz silver (called iridium silver here) is 775. you can find this code on a little plate on the door frame usually. it will be preceded by a C, meaning ceramic topcoat.

I know you're probably tired of hearing this but you have excellent taste in automotive machinery. That Ferrari looks like a monster! Bet you have fun with that one, eh?

The Ferrari is out of this world! a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10 for fun!
The S550 is one smooth machine. Mercedes hit it out of the park.

Congratulations on your S 550. My old W220 was Black Opal, and my new CL63 is Majestic Black. The Majestic Black, as others have pointed out, is a bit darker than the Black Opal, and a little more black than blue. Still, when the light hits it just right, it is truly stunning. Enjoy your new ride in good health.

Kar don, my first choice was always the Black Opal, and I was disappointed when I found out it would no longer be available in the US. For a while it was still available on the German MB site. Thankfully, the Majestic Black came along and I was again pleased. The GL is Obsidian Black, a color which really looks beautiful on that vehicle, and was my second choice in the CL 63 with a Cognac/Black interior, both of which were unavailable. Funny how it all worked out for the best. BTW, thanks for the compliment.
