The finest car in the world...

If you have not seen this... Just got back from a UK visit where I picked up the Top Gear Test Drive Directory magazine... A very nice capsule 5 out of 5 stars review of the S-Class...

"Why is the Mercedes-Benz S-Class so good? The interior, the seats, the space, the astonishing quietness at speed, the performance, the ride, the electronic controls, the hi-fi, and a whole lot else besides. This is without doubt, the finest car in the world..."

Feel good!

The TV episode of the review is also quite flattering to the S class. Highlighting it's environmental pedigree and as Jeremy Clarkson states "I've never gone into a tight turn in a home cinema before". He absolutely loved the S class.

Hadn't seen that review; thx for posting, cjf....

Rather true conclusion....

Also recently traveled to London/NYC/Chicago for a quick series of mtgs....reminded me again that few places on planet (aside from LA) have SF region's combination of weather/roads/topography/car-oriented infrastruc/fast fwys.....such that one can actually enjoy driving one's S/CL 365d/yr for both mundane daily commuting and pleasure driving....

....w/none of hassles of winter tires/wheels; need to suffer a winter S550 4Matic for 5mos/yr; lack of spacious parking or car nut-oriented pkg garages for convenient daily use....and some of world's cheapest MSRPs/most efficient car lease strucs.....will still complain about US' poor pavement conditions and those silly speed lims, but life here is indeed rather pleasurable for a car nut to daily-drive/enjoy cars like S600/65 or CL63/65....

WSH - You obviously do not commute along the 24 or 680 at 5.30 pm!

Goof up

What's so funny is when you click on the gallery tab of that review, the first of the two pictures is a picture of a CLS (with S class MB label underneath it)

Yup! Clarkson absolutely loved it. Being the petrolhead he is, you could tell he tried hard to hold back the "HAH" when he was talking about the S-Class winning the first ever environmental certificate from the German TUV over the Prius.
