Smile Customized order is possible?

I haven't yet asked dealer but I think forum folks would know better. I wonder if I can place customized order, e.g., massage function on rear seats instead of front seats.

p.s. I appreciate all people's advice and concern via reply or PM. They are being of great help.

no rear massage, sorry...

MondayQB: Massage is not available for the rear seats in the new S class for USA. You can get heated and active (fans) ventilated seats (a/c) in rear, plus power rear outboard seats (center stays put). In the S600 only (not S550 or AMG models) you also get adjustable lumbar support in the two rear main seats as standard. That is it. If this is not enough for you, try the Lexus LS460/600. They specialized in rear massage seats! Regards, Z356.

Multicontour seats with massage are option code 406, in Europe you can have that on every model, independent of the front seats.

Uhhh, you're wrong about that. The U.S. S600s DO have rear massaging seats. My car has it. Two levels of massage are available as there are two separate switches for that. Soft and vigorous.

idd.

my 08 S600 comes with massage as it is part of the Rear Seat Package. I didnt think it was available in the rear seat, and i also think my MB salesman told me that too, but i recently discovered that the massage function is available in the rear through the center rear console.

Excellent news...

Thanks for pointing out that 'massage' function is available for rear of a 07/08 S600. Does it have four levels of massage like in the front seats? Is it available in AMG S63 and S550 if these are ordered with optional 'rear seat pkg'? Is it standard also on the '08 S65? Thanks. Z356

So front seats get 4-levels of massage, but rears only 2-levels?

Would hope S65 would include a few "special" massages for the extra $50K....after all, $50K buys a lot of massages.....perhaps a sales incentive to get rid of all those unsold, new 65s?.....

That is the way mine is: 4 upfront and 2 in back. The switches in the back are activated by first selecting "L" or "R" to determine which seat gets the massage. When that selection is made, you then push forward on one of the two most far right buttons to make the seats start massaging and you press those same buttons back to cease the function. The other three buttons adjust static seat adjustments like lumbar and bolster adjustments. I think someone once mentioned they would like to have the driver dynamic seats in the rear. That would be nice.

The massage function is only available on the V12 models in the US as of now. If you contacted MBUSA, they might, might, order you a V8 car. Most likely not though.

I wanted rear massaging seats too, but unfortunately I was told I would have to purchase the 600 to get them

I spent a month trying to spec out a 550 with "this and that" and gave up and just said heck with it and bought a 600 because it is so fully loaded. Best decision I've ever made especially after experiencing the smooth v12 and the power. I usually have a roaming eye after purchasing a car but this one has kept me happy for over a year. Not even considering a trade like I used to. Usually wouldn't keep a car more than 18 months.
Not even looking anymore and plan on keeping this one at least 4 years. If so, it'll be a record time for me. Warranty expiration may be the only thing that makes me trade. If I'm not having any problems after 4 years, may get an extended warranty unless the 2011 model has some serious improvements.

I guess you need dollars but that would be for MBUSA, not for Germany, Germany already makes just about any option available to just about any car and car order (see the German options brochure/price list).

Now you're talking. That would be a dream come true. I love diesels for some reason. I guess because it brings back memories of childhood when mom and dad had an old 1968 220 diesel for the family car. We always wanted a 240 but didn't get one.

I too am in love with diesels, I had heard a rumor about a diesel CL coming out in Europe (probably the 420CDI), but no confirmation yet. That would be a dream come true for me, even though the S is fantastic. I honestly feel the S420CDI is the best S currently available. I am still hoping that AMG will get their hands on that engine, if they can work the same magic that created the C30CDI AMGs, perhaps a S/E/CL50CDI AMG (quad-turbo setup with no lag perhaps, but not required) I would be first in line! (Also for a CL420 CDI)

Of course it is possible.

But becase you are in USA it would be a bit more difficul, but es, it's possible.

Speak directly with Mercedes Germany and not with your delaer.....

But I think that you must have Multicountorn at front if tyou want them at the back......

For example, in my S class, I couldn't order teh RES wihout ordering too, the electric rear seats......

It is actually much more difficult than that, the problem is that one of these cars has never been tested by the EPA, so trying to have it certified for US use would take quite a lot of time and money, with no guarentee I would even be able to use it. It is not like in times past where you could just import the car and register it, otherwise I would have done that a long time ago.

But I am also considering the option of buying one as my car to use in Germany/Europe.

Not really essential for the discussion but the RES restriction to electric rear seats, option code 223 or 224 applies for Europe too. This must be related to the centre rear seat part structure.

But the multi contour seats are not dependent, the restrictions for rear multicontour seats with massage are only:
- leather seats (belive me or not, the W221 is available in cloth too, on some models)
- 223 rear seats again,
- and restricted selection of wood options.

All this available starting from the basic SWB model.

I knew that too.

In the portuguese catalogue they make reference to that and you can order it in all models.

But I'd never saw a picture of a W221 with non leather seats. Can you show me one?

(I remenber seeing a W220 wiou leaher seats, but not the W221.)

Cannot show a photo of W221 with cloth seats, would be difficult to find. I believe it is only available for the SWB and engine size smaller than S500/S550. Also the cloth is only available as black. Clearly some price differentiation, for one who wants a W221 model but would want to pay the absolute minimum and would not care about options.

But I have seen one live, one of the first cars at a local shop, an S350.

No...... The cloth is avaible in the S500. Not in the S600 because the passion leather is standart.

And you dont's have to pa any extra money to hae the confor leahher seats in the W221.

I belive too that many options are not avaible with this type of seats, but still is avaible in the S500, I'm sure.
