W221 Crash test
I was wondering the reason why there are no videos of crash test of the W221. Do you guys have some information or link about this?

Haven't seen crash test results for many car models, esp lower volume, higher cost cars.....
That said, need to also consider what fraction of total safety is active, vs passive; how does one quantitate active safety.....esp steering, brakes, handling, stability controls, traction, various computer networked systems (e.g., AutoBrakeDrying, BrakeAssist, ALB, etc, etc) in various real-world scenarios....and consider decay curves....how do parameters like braking dists vary in a car w/5K mis, vs one w/12K mis and rear perf tires near-due for replacement???
And crash tests don't fully reflect many real-world scenarios in terms of passive safety.....esp scenarios like rollover (roof strength); high-speed rear impact (likely in any car w/much more powerful brakes than most cars on road); accurate differentiation of likely crash risks of death vs other, poss more gruesome outcomes like disabling head/spinal injuries, etc....
IMO, need to do own common-sense analysis of engineering tech of any car.....drive car in varying, challenging conditions to assess active safety capabilities....place own bets based upon partial data and much subjective judgment....and live w/consequences of one's bet in any "stress" scenario...which one may have predicted...or never even anticipated....

I remember reading an article a while back when the car was first released about all the safety features and some crash test results, but then the whole thing just died down

Neat video. Thanks for posting. I can guarantee you this, no matter what happens in a collision, that grille (made of special plastics) won't be destroyed. It might get deformed a little but it won't be destroyed. I tried to cut one in half and it was almost impossible. I used special saws, disc cutters, wire cutting pliers, etc., and that is the toughest material I've ever gotten my hands on. It made me wonder if it was stronger than steel!!!

I saw the video, best I could tell is he probably fell asleep and drove into a tree. Non-life threatening injury according to the report.
