Bubble in Wheel

Well while i was detailing my car over the weekend i noticed a small little bubble on my left front wheel. I purchased the vehicle about 3 months ago and have about 8,000 miles on it.

I have the upgraded 19 9 twin spoke wheels, and my dealer informed me that it is most likely from hitting a pothole and that it is not covered under warranty.

I am just wondering if there is any truth in what hes telling me, and if anyone else had problems with their wheels such as myself.

If its a bubble in the tires, what the dealership told you sounds right. You can try to send the tire back to the manufacture under warranty, but most times, its not worth the hassle.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!! The exact same thing happened to me at the same time of ownership. 3 months after purchase with about 5000 miles on it. Same wheel/tire .....front left. Mine actually bubbled out in 3 places.

I went to the dealership complaining about it and they, without questioning, placed a new tire on for me at no charge, but when I picked the car up that afternoon, they said that the wheel had been bent. They did not back up on their promise and I walked away without having to pay. I kind of doubted their reasoning but it dawned on me that I did hit a large pothole a few weeks earlier on some rough interstate (which was repaired 2 months ago).
Fast forward 10 months and I had my tires balanced and sure enough, while I was watching the tech balance my tires, he was spinning the left front wheel and it in fact had a bent area on it.

So, they were right afterall. That's not to say that a tire couldn't be defective , but in my case it was in fact due to a hard hit into a pothole.

Like I've said before, my dealership is the best car dealership I've ever been to, bar none. They are always bending over backwards to keep me happy. That's why I keep buying Benzes

I usually recommend to run slightly higher PSI than what the dealership and facotry recommend.

OK. this is gettin damn freaky. I feel the same way!! One hour ago I aired my tires back up to 40 lbs. per wheel (cold) all the way around. I had my car serviced and I could tell they let the air back down as I noticed the shuddering I was having had returned. So I checked my pressure with the onboard tpms and sure enough they were back down to around 33 or 34.
I know it makes it ride rougher with high pressure , but my tires tend to cup at the values they request and I also get about 8 to 10K more miles out of them. I'm at 20K miles and my front tires still look great. My wheels are staggered so I don't get the benefit of rotation. Anyway, I developed a shudder a month ago, had my tires balanced to see if that would clear the problem, the problem did not dramatically improve but when I placed the extra 7 lbs in the tires, the problem stops immediately. Also, the type of driving I do is very curvy roads so I feel the extra tight pressure keeps them from rolling along the outer sides.

its on the tires, and i am not sure who i should exactly hassle. Continental or my dealership? Trumpet1, did you happen to buy the additional warranty on your tires and wheels?
