Yes,that is what i got the car for.If anyone wants to pm me i will give phone number of dealership along with the salesmans name. And yes the car is a new '08,it has a total of 46 miles on it...that came from a test drive.A new set of 20"wheels and tires are being shipped late next week so i plan on picking up the car the first week-end in april.

Nitromilt and Gellie...i sent you guys PM's...

but honestly though...this is just really bugging me because it was like pulling teeth with my dealer to get 7,000 off...its funny because i had made a post earlier about 2 weeks ago related to this topic in a way...i had posted about how i hadn't signed anything but i had ordered an S550 4matic and the guy was giving me 5200 off msrp and i thought that was fine but i came on here and people had suggested calling some other dealers out of state and i had managed to get a quote of 7000 off so i was fuming, but i didn't know what my options were at that point because i had already sort of already ordered the other car and it was about to be made...i hadn't signed anything, but i had put down a downpayment so i didn't know if could demand a price match...

i was freaking out about it then and that was 1700 dollars...he eventually gave me the 7000 off i wanted...but now im hearing that people are getting 10000 to 14000 off msrp within two weeks and im fuming even worse...im sure you can understand my situation and irritation...so, i don't know what the deal is...i mean ive called at least 6 dealerships in various parts of the nation that were actually willing to deal over the phone and the best i found was 7,000 so i guess i need some help here...

please pm me back Nitromilt and Gellie...hopefully i can get a better quote and then demand another price match and if i can't get it then ill just ditch that dealer and go to one of the ones you guys went to, or at least call them and have it shipped to me cause thats just crazy if you guys are getting double the discount i am...thats a ton of money im just throwing away then...please let me know guys...thanks

I'm in the exact same position as you. I too have ordered my car and am waiting for it. ETA is March 30th or the 1st week of April. I got $8500 off MSRP of $101,630. My situation has a couple of interesting turns.....

1) I put a down payment on my credit card but they did not charge it - I think they forgot to actually run it through. They asked for a $5000 dep.

2) I called them up yesterday and they said that it's on the water and due to arrive at the Jacksonville VPC in about 10 days.

I plan on asking them to give me $12000 off at signing time. I wonder if it will work bec. technically, I have not signed anything other than a small doc that looked like a vehicle sticker

^^^how would you go about doing that...i mean how do you ask for that...do you think they will be inclined to help you out since the car is already there...i just need guidance on this too, because i obviously don't have a competing quote from another dealer in writing or verbally giving me a better deal...the thing is, is it better to go to the sales manager earlier before the car comes in and try to work it out, or does it work better once the car shows up...im so confused with this because normally when you buy a car you get a price and you're happy about it...in this situation the car seems to be dropping value like a brick and you actually feel like you're getting riped off...

I had originally thought that dealers were making 8-9 percent off the car...which in my case (if its 9%) would make the car 86,673...so getting 7,000 off wasn't bad at all...thats like paying the dealer 1,500, which i could live with...but if people are getting 15,000 off the car, what the heck is the actual price of this thing...what are dealers paying...based on that, it would seem that dealers are paying around 80,000-81,000 for a 95,000+ Msrp...that is very hard to believe...a markup of $14,000-15,000...i've never heard of a markup that much on a sub $100,000 car...

I will be returning pm'S and e-mails when i get a little more time.To answer your question about what the dealer pays for the car, well thats a tricky one to answer. Some dealers get hold back funds from mb. Also there is more rebates to the dealer if they state the car was a demo. From what i understand most dealers will do that for their "A" list customers.I believe there are some other things they are able to do.If they are in the market to move a car YOU will get a killer deal,if not well then it wont be as good.Like on old friend always said the more you pay for something, the better you will like it.( I JUST COULDNT UNDERSTAND THAT) Good luck.

It is not difficult to get your discount if you buy on the spot. Go on autotrader and search for a dealer who has the most cars on the lot.
Big dealers at least have 15 - 20 cars on the lot to choose from.
As I said earlier, ask for 15% if car is on the lot. Maybe less if you are ordering it though for forward delivery.

Best Ive seen in LA is 11k off with the added trunk money if you are coming out of a certain MB car....The S is holding stronger here I guess. My SL was something like $25k off in Dec of 2005.

But the reason why the fed rate is lower is coz economy is in a bad state which would lead to people spending less..

I dont get it ..
You almost got it! Slow economy needs a lot of money and the companys need to be "forced" to invest. Low fed rates gives them "cheap" money to invest. Investments mean higher tax income for the state and more people are getting hired. It takes some time but the economy should get better that way.

Wrong! cheap money only works when companys can borrow. We are in the midst of one of the worst credit crunches in history. Nobodys able to borrow at lower rates.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a dealer? I've asked so many people and it seems like no one wants to say where they got such a great deal. thanks! I'm starting to feel like the 8500 off is bogus

I'm in the market as well. Do you mind sharing details of your deal? You can PM me if you prefer. I must admit that I too have been very skeptical of the "oh I got "X" off but I'm too busy to tell you where I got the great deal....

Thanks if you can share....

I don't know about S class specials but I found $15K off of a brand new CL600 at RBM of Atlanta. This should give everyone some idea of how much they can knock off of the prices. I figure this dealership might give someone a close idea of what a S550 special might be. This CL600 is silver /black:

ooops sorry!!!!! I thought I was looking at 08 models. I was just looking at the mileage I guess and thought it was new. My bad.

It's funny how a dealership thinks they can ask that much yet if I were to drive it 2 miles from the lot after buying it, turn around and try to trade it, it wouldn't be worth $100K.

MSRP: $101,630
DLR Invoice: $92,064
