Distronic question

I've been noticing this but I've delayed in making a comment about it because I wasn't sure if it was true or not. It seems the distronic plus is more advanced than I originally thought it was. I've been noticing that it does more than just trail the slower vehicle ahead of me. I notice that if I enter into a curve on the interstate that demands a much slower speed than what I have the cruise set at, such as a ramp that goes from one interstate to another , that the cruise control apparently notices G-forces in that curve and slows the car down even though their is nothing in front of me to slow me down. Has anyone noticed this effect???
An example is like when I am going into a sharp curve that has a 45 mph speed limit ramping onto an interstate transition while I've been traveling at a cruise speed of around 75 mph. I find this extremely well thought-out by the Mercedes engineers.

Wow...impressive....

Never drive w/DistPlus cruise ctrl activated but def appreciate how well-engineered the "warnings" are....very few false positives.....and drove a colleague's CL63 030 w/BlindSpotAssist (my Jun07 build lacks this) in urban SF traffic (numerous bicyclists weaving through stopped/slow fin dt rush-hr
traffic) and was very impressed by how well-engineered is the BSA func....

Will truly miss S/CL's DistPlus tech (and other aspects of S/CL tech and safety) when I migrate to SL63 030 in May.....this MCT box needs to be rather impressive to compensate for '09 SL's elderly tech.....o/w I'll quickly be trading in SL63 030 for a new '09 S/CL65 or CL63 030....

At first I thought the car was slowing down because of the detection of the sides of the bridges while in the turn but I looked down at the speedo and it doesn't develop that light grey area below the set speed while in the turn so my only thoughts were this thing is slowing down due to the detection of lateral forces while in a turn. Sounds sensible to me but whether or not this is absolutely true, I don't know.

I have noticed this, too. I regularly drive a pretty windy mountain highway, with many curves marked at 40mph, even thought the speed limit is 50. I set my cruise at 57 (heavily patrolled by highway patrol) and I just set it and forget it. The distronic slows the car down to about 45, even though the car can easily take the turns at 50+. I didn't know if this was a function of the Distronic+, or if there is some g-force sensor that slows the car based on the lateral accelerration. Whatever it is, it works well, is pretty conservative, and just another amazing (to me, anyway) techno-gadget on my S63

I have to agree. This car is truly amazing and it get the limelight long enough in the press and ratings. It will, in reality, be on the top of the charts as far as I'm concerned.
It sounds like your test on this matter affirms my theory on this even better than my example with the curvy road you ride on.
