carsnob: It is a shame that 4matic is only offered up to the 550 and not on the 600. I guess that huge amount of torque is too much for the current system. Who knows, maybe in the future ?

I would have to disagree with that. I have ridden in a 4matic in the snow and it makes a huge difference.

i think the 4matic system is brilliant. i live in chicago and we had one of the most brutal winters (cold, snow, ice) in thirty+ years, and my s550v4 (non amg sport package) performed flawlessly. i never changed to winter tires or wheels or anything. my car came equipped with the upgraded 19" multi-spoke wheels and conti tires. no complaints whatsoever. i would never buy another non-4matic car (if i continue to live in a snowy climate) again. my opinion.

I was one of the only cars on the road and was having no problems whatsoever. I've had my '08 S-550 for 7 months and already have 25,000 miles so I needed something I could depend on in all weather conditions.

I'd buy these tires again in a heartbeat. Also, they don't look like traditional snow tires. You wouldn't know they were snow tires by just looking at them. They actually look normal on the car and I don't have to have a spare set of wheels.
Do you still have the 2008?
