General question about wheel sizes
Just quorious. Standard wheels for S/CL US issue classs are 18" -> upgrade to 19", -> AMG 20". Tested, retesded by MB big guns with their huge R&D accounts. Stapm MB approved.
I get few bubbles here and there on my 18". Considering getting 19" on my possible new CL600.
Question:
How the heck nobody is complaining about comfort ride/blow outs/nuisance/aggrivation of repair..... anything above 20". Are those guys on private roads (some frikn.. S.Arabia???) or driving 30-40mph. Ratio of cut tires/destroyed rims on public roads must be overwhelming vs. iffy looks (if any).
Michelin, or any other brand must love you guys.

Hhhmmmm..... methinks you are exaggerating a wee bit. It's not quite that bad. I had 21"ers on my 750iL and never damaged the rims in 5 years...
Afterall, these are not quite Saudi Arabian roads

Maybe, where you are, roads are not bad at all. Enter NYC area, I bet you will change your mind (and cut tire) rather quickly

Markopolo, for NYC region, I'd conservatively advise 18" tires/wheels on 600....
In CA, where roads are notably better than those of NYC region, my expce w/AMG 20" wheels/tires has been problem-free...no flats/bent wheels after 11K mis.....and know several guys in CA w/similar expces w/CL63 030 or S65....
Biggest issue w/many of factory-spec 19" and 20" perf tires is that they are often unavailable (even overnt) in CA for emergent replacement....and often the perf wheels are similarly unavailable...
That said, my guess is today's factory-spec 20" 030 wheels are much stronger than perf wheels of 5-10yrs ago....I recall, in Manhattan earlier this decade, guys driving perf cars w/then-aggressive ?17"-18" perf wheels and complaining of frequent wheel/tire damage in driving any of the roads in/nr Manhattan....
