In my opinion ABC suspension - absolute MUST HAVE. Whatever package it comes with.
Just tell your friend to test drive both, back to back (possibly).
Trust me, it defines gravity.
Einstein would have a big kick out of it.

Friends don't let friends buy S550s....![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Have him test-drive a 600....there's no going back to an underpowered, underbraked, plasticky 550 afterwards....![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Seriously, must-have options on 550 are ABC (as markopolo observes, transforms dynamics of S550
) and DistronicPlus (a valuable active safety option as DistPlus and its radar-detected early-warning of imminent collision is networked into BrakeAssistPlus and BlindSpotAssist, even if never use the silly cruise ctrl func)....
Would not get Pano roof; IMO, MB's most moronic option/std feature....compromises roof strength/struc integrity in any serious collision/rollover....may as well get some POS SUV or convert if not worried about rollover risks/roof strength....

Pano roof doesn't comprimise anything actually. The entire roof is double layered in shatter proof film, has the same HSS cross-members as the regular moonroof. This was published in some techincal article that DCX had released when the W221 was first released in Europe.

WSH is right about all the options. We with the 600's are definately spoiled.
But we evolved to this position. Personally I reached a point where I wanted all the options and was ready to pay for alcantra as an option (which it isn't).\
But for those new to MB's, I start off with the following for sure:
Parktronic, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel ( if you live in the north);power trunk, keyless go.
Add to this, if you like to have the options for back seat passengers, sure to impress your friends, then add power rear seats, and ventilated seats.
