Heated Steering Wheel

Does it stay warm/hot until you turn it off (like my BMW), or does it just cycle on for a period of time and then shut off and cool down? If it shuts off, can you turn it back on without turning the engine off and back on? Thanks.

It was just 90 degrees here in Ontario, so it's kind of hard to think about steering wheel heaters. Good question though. When it's friggin cold, it warms up fast. I believe it stays on but even if it reduced intensity as with the seat heaters going from 2 red lights to one, it doesn't matter. By the time it would shut down (assuming you don't turn off the car), your hands and the wheel are nice and warm anyway. so there is no need to crank it back up.

I have never noticed it turn off - though obviously there must be some kind of temperature regulator in there. Must admit I have never tried to turn it on with the engine turned off - I assume its power comes from the rear service battery... Have to try this in the morning!

It dosent turn itself off, however, it may reduce it's temp after the initial heat up. The interior temp is up by then so the warmth of the steering is usually a non issue in 15 min or so. But it is definitely a must have if you have cold winter mornings (it's a once youve had it thing....)
