No, that isn't correct. I have never tried it on my car but if you open the rear door and lock all doors (not sure if you need to do it on all doors), then you should be able to close the rear door and have all doors locked. This is something you are not supposed to do by accident.

This is how you can lock the doors if you want to lock the car without a key. open the rear door behind the driver's door. Push the lock bottom on the driver's door, it should lock all four doors, including the one that is open. Then close the door. A MB SA show me that and it's work. The alarm system will also active, just like you lock the car with a key.
