rear memory seat

Has any one noticed that the rear seat memory on the w221 is extreemly rare

I mean extreemly rare . ive seen one in dubai and only one in toronto .ive checked about 52 s600 and s65 s in the us and non of them had that option .

if the vehicle has this option its located above the power seat buttons on the rear doors . and 99.99 percent of the s classes dont have it and im amazed by that .anyone knows the reason for that? , because this 4000 $ option is nothing for someone whose buying this kind of car .

Thanks .

As long as it takes to hit the rear seat button to move it forward, or back, is almost the same time as it would be to hit and hold the memory button -- if there was one!
If it's not in your car don't feel too bad like you missed out.
btw, it sure is nice sitting as a passenger in the back seat of one's own S 600 eh?

More importantly, has anyone noticed that the 4-place seating is no longer available in the US? I would wager that most models with rear seat memory also have the 4-place seating, probably also with tray tables and a cooler.

Rear seat memory is one of a huge number of options not sold in the US.

99.9% of cars in the US don't have it becuase I believe it was never part of the rear seat package (ie. with adjustable seats). It was(is?) a part of the rear seat package for Canada and I've seen a few cars that have it.

Actually, in many other parts of the world, rear memory is not that rare. I was driven in an S350 in Hong Kong and it was pretty much fully loaded inside (TV's, tray tables, phone in the arm rest...) Many of these truly luxury options are not available in the US due to demand.

Most US S-class owners probably drive themselves, whereas in Europe (to a degree), Middle east and Asia, the owners proabably have their own drivers. This is likely due to the high price of cars in those areas and a different attitude towards driving. I know that the price of S600's in China is about the same as a RR Phantom in the US.

Memory Feature was an add-on for my S600 (525 CHF or around 450 US$)

Just comfortable to use it.

Right on!

I was told the same thing by a trader. Think about it - there are probably a gizillion S-Classes in the U.S compared to a few hundred/thousand in the middle east+Asia. In the U.S S classes are driven by A LOT of wealthy folks. In those countries, you have to be ULTRA wealthy - which means you have a chaffeaur, which means you need a rear seat package, which means you need a rear phone, which means you need tray tables, etc.

I think the W140 may have been the last US S to have it as an option. Unless some early W220 models were orderable with it.

By 4 place seating, do you mean adjustable outboard seats? Same as what is standard on the S600 minus the air bladder adjustments on the center armrest.

If so, they are still available on W221.

I have this feature and my rear passengers love it. Especially to relax on long trips.

No, power outboard seats is not the same thing as 4-place seating, the 4-place seating package means that the outboard seats are essentially identical to the two front seats, and a wood center console with various controls replaces the center bench seat.
