Drivver seat lowering

Hey there all,

I'm wondering if you guys with w221's out there can help me out. On my driver seat when the seat has been moved forward, it is not possible to completely lower the seat. The only way to lower the seat is to move the seat all the way back, lower it and then move it to the front.

I had it looked at by my dealer, but they said it was menat to function in that way. Not a big issue, but would like to know.
Thanks

How far to the front is the seat when it does not go lower? I have not noticed this but since I'm using the memory buttons, I hardly ever try the seat lowering button. But if I tested it, would be good to know if you have the seat really at the front, half way or something else.

hey there,

I've not really programmed the memory seats; definately something I should do. Try moving your seat all the way to the front, raising it then trying to lower it. Does it go back down? With me, I have to take it all the way back, lower it and then take it to the front again. I normally sit about 1/3rd the way back, but I like to sit quite low down.

I really only noticed this after MB had taken my seat out to fix something; so I'm more curious than anything to see if it's a fault or not.

Thanks

I tested it on mine and it operates as you described in the original post. I cannot lower mine down until I bring it back about 1/3 of the way. It lowers some but still not all the way down until I bring it back even further. After bringing the seat 3/4 of the way back, I then was able to drop it all the way down. Afterwards, I made it go forward non-stop and as it moved forward , the seat would at times automatically raise itself as I approached the steering wheel even when I didn't press upwards on the switch.
One thing I never realized is just how far back this seat goes back. I bet it would accomodate a 7'5" woman easily.

Trumpet,

Thanks for that. Atleast i know it's not a fault. I just find it quite strange that if you might want to lower it a bit, you have to stop the car move it back and bring it forward again. Oh well.

Cheers
