Sonderklasse
Interior of the new 7 looks pretty good, I agree. Definitely big improvement over the old. But am not sure of their fit and finish, and overall material quality and ergonomics. They still have those rear seat control buttons on the centre arm rest, and for the front seat the memory buttons seem to be in weird position. The door handles are weird. I really look forward to checking one of these out, to see how far they've come. Probably hard to swallow the exterior looks to ever buy one though.

For sub-rolls, S class (and even the CLS) all the way.. don't waste time with Audi and Lexus...The first time I ever sat in an S Class was the day I picked my one up from the dealer... and when I sat in it, it was like heaven.... most amazing seats ever.. and the ride makes it even better! I haven't had the same experience in any other car!

Excellent post, cjf![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Must say that, after some 2K mis on my '09 CL65, am thoroughly addicted to it, even vs my much-enjoyed CL63 030...this 65 is best car I've ever driven/owned, both on fast fwys and in mtn twisties...absolutely brilliant and can never go back to anything less than an AMG V12![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Would argue what's unique about CL65 incls stuff like legendary tq and elegant, contemporary leather/cf-finished, perf-oriented interior (esp seats and steering wheel)...but subtleties like rather refined throttle response (and excellent wet traction) and softer leather sports steering wheel (vs '08 63/65)...and lack of such nonsense as a TeleAid antenna (unlike S65)...or a sat radio wart or Parktronic bulletholes (unlike SL65)
Have conveyed my positives/negatives summary to AMG via their PrivateLounge website....great stuff, as clearly AMG US and Germany both follow comments from owners on their own forum...and clearly listen and (more importantly) respond
Plan to get a '10 S65, presumably the face-lifted and newer-tech version, in Spring09, as I anticipate '10 CL65 won't arrive in US until Fall09
In any case, don't realize what great cars are these S/CL until thoroughly test-drive lesser cars like F/P/Bent, etc....showrooms are amusing to see all the cheap blk plastic buttons, etc in supposedly well-made $200K+ cars, but aggressive tests on fast, bumpy, even wet CA roads reveal far more about dynamic/active safety capabilities of any car....more than any silly, dry, smooth track in Podunk will ever reveal![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

i like the interior of the W221 quite a bit also, especially the AMG versions. given the resale value trends of the past year and the huge depreciation - dn 35% from msrp first year, another 20% 2nd yr, and 15% 3rd yr - perhaps i might be able to get a good deal?
after all, with many of late 07/early 08(better economy) leases coming off in 18 months, you think i might be able to find a 2007/early 2008 S63 for $35k(?), or 25-30% of MSRP?

I registered because I picked up my car this past Saturday. I am not WSH/Guppy if that's what you are implying... Trust me, I don't anything as fancy as WSH claims to drive.

Got it from MB of Princeton, NJ. Dealer running incentives on 08; Got 10k off 96k plus; P3 Arctic white/cashmere interior fully loaded; night vision as well. Standard body though I wish I had gotten the AMG sports package. Final take home price 84k; She's sweet and nimble ... better than my 03 S55; I am looking to upgrade the body to AMG sports body since I like the way it looks. Even though I can feel the difference of 113hp, the features and looks easily make up for it.

I saw on the other thread that I paid ~ 8-10k more.
I don't want to think about it now... just enjoy my car. Looks like your car looks like mine except you got smart and got the sports package. It's raining here in NJ today... I plan on taking some pics will post them. I saw the AMG kit on ebay. What do you guys think?
