The Best of Mercedes & AMG
However, if you're going into the deal with no baggage, you can probably get a deal of a lifetime.
Has anyone recently bought a 600 or 65? If so, what kind of deals did anyone get? We rarely hear of anyone speaking of S600+ deals on the forum. I paid pretty much MSRP on mine 2 years ago. However, on my deal , I had to unload a Phaeton and it took a beating. I was lucky just to get out of it as good as I did. The Phaetons are still taking a bad beating. Some V8 Phaetons are going for $15K just 4 years old. They were $70K + new.
Go for it. You'll love it. My car is now 2 years old and it still seems like new to me. A terrific car. The V12 is something that will spoil you once you drive it.
I'm so depressed that they are planning on cutting the V12s from the lineup in the future. I really hate this decision.
Mercedes promises that the V8 twin-turbo will be more compact and lighter, adding less weight to the car, producing similar if not better performance
with its twin-turbos compared to the V12.
I am sure MB with its record will produce a good engine... but it has yet to be proven it will be a real substitute.. I suspect that the new V8 TT will be more highly strung with less reserves than the current V12... (Which is really de- tuned in the S600... (compared with a Maybach/S65)
The character of the two engine configurations is different... I am with Trumpet on this..

So true... not only that, but a V8 (TT or not) is so... I have to say it... so ordinary... The S-Class is an extra special flagship car... that at the top of the line should be sized and matched to a special engine.. the luster of which permeates to all S-Class models... Even Hyundai now has a V8!
The current V12TT M275/M285 design has been run on the test bench at up to 900 hp... just an indication of how much untapped reserves are inherent in the design... of course far more than any of MB's production transmissions can take.
Anyway to the poster thinking of an S600/65... do it! The engine is a treat that appears about to be taken away... There is nothing else like it.
