How big a flash card is needed for PCMIA slot
I am going to put music on a flash card for my PCMIA slot in the S550 4Matic. How big a flash card do I need? Should I get the newer Type III card such as Compact Flash III? Is a first generation Compact Flash card fast enough with very little noted difference? I was thinking about getting a 16 GB Compact Flash I card and PCMIA adapter.
Oh, and another question......
Can I only put music on the Compact Flash card or will a Video off of my iTunes play from the PCMIA slot?

I have the SanDisk 6 in 1 PC Card Adapter and have a 2 GB SD card. It works great , having about 300 songs and additional free space. Clearly , you can get addditional memory however based upon what I have experienced 16GB is overkill. The only note I would say is it takes several seconds to load when the card is first inserted. Thereafter , it loads in a few seconds. Works vey well.

Some have found 32 GB cards at low price. The card does not have to be anything as fast as for digital SLRs where the price is of different order.
There is however a limit on the total number of titles, a larger than 8 or 16 GB card may not make sense unless you have a lot of classical music with big file sizes.
I've used Sandisk and Kingston memory cards, currently a 16 GB card but I don't have it full, probably a lot less than one half filled with songs.
Did someone already mention that the default iTunes format does not play, the songs would have to be in MP3 format (which iTunes can do). Actually updated Comand units should do WMA too, I have not tried that.

I have my entire music library, about 2,000 songs, on my 16GB card (at 192-256kbps) Takes up about 12GB of space. It's nice having the same song choices in my car as at home or on my ipod/itouch. btw I have the $425 ipod connector option. IMHO it stinks. I'd rather use the card slot.
