Iphone kit for 3G?
I want to get a 3G iphone but the MB dealer tells me that there is that the kit released last year isn't compatible with 3G. Is this correct? Is a kit coming for 3G? I have an Australian spec 2008 S65.

I have found a way to use the iphone 3g with the factory kit (charging & playing).

My 3G works perfect well with bluetooth. But then I use a separate 80 Gbyte iPOd for music with the normal Pod kit. (The iPhone is far too small to hold anything substantial)

I have the ipod connector in the glove box but hate reading the track info in the speedo. Is there a better solution? I'm reduced to burning MP3 DVDs so I can read folder and track info in the Comand.

My understanding is that Mercedes is working on a new cradle for the 3G. Until that is released, I would think its better to go with the bluetooth module which works very well with the 3G iphone. At least that is what I did. I'm not even sure it's worth it for me to change over to the cradle when it finally comes out.
I expect the 3G cradle will be released shortly after Apple releases their next version of the iphone which will undoubtedly be a different size or have a new type of connection.

Anybody able to get text message to display on command screen either via cradle or BT? I cant seem to get the text msgs and retrieve voicemail let alone play music.

Do you haven any more information regarding ordering the iPhone 3G cradle? Can it be ordered through my service department, or would I need to contact Wireless4mb? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Having always had a cradle for my MB phones in the past, I miss the functionality only the cradle can provide. Thanks again!

You don't happen to have the part number available, do you? My service/parts department has a habit of telling me things are not available when in fact they very much are. Thanks again for the heads up!

A 204 820 3951 but is not valid for Code 809 (Model 2009)! Seems it's working only for cars model 09.2004 to 06.2008. All other cars are excluded.

That's interesting, I can't see why it wouldn't work... Hopefully you can get that sorted it out. Thank you so much for your help, I truly appreciate the information!

I exchanged my current cradle (Siemes phone) with the new Iphone 3G cradle. Very simple procedure. You have to pair the mobile with the cradle (Bluetooth button in the cradle). Up to 4 phones may be paired. The connection between the Iphone and the cradle is automatically.
If the car is equipped with a Media Interface or an Ipod Interface kit, it is possible to access the ipod functions of the Iphone in the cradle via COMAND (not yet tried)
To load the Iphone it must be placed in the cradle, otherwise keep it in your pocket or somewhere else within Bluetooth range)
