Sneaky transmission ecu reset for s550?

Is there a different way to reset the transmission ecu on a s550? I heard it goes like this, Turn the igntion to the on position with key in the ignition, then hold gas pedal to the floor for 5 sec, then turn off the ignition while holding gas pedal then release. Is it the same way for the w221 s550? My tranny isn't shifting smothly especially when i'm in bumper to bumper traffic, it jerks real bad downshifting and also when i release the gas pedal and hit the pedal real quick again.

It's actually a pretty common and popular procedure.

The ECU reset isn't going to really solve the transmission jerking issue. All it really does is reset the adaptive transmission to start relearning. A side effect of this procedure is that the drive-by-wire throttle lag is shortened a little and the throttle is more responsive. It's this side effect of the reset that most people go for when doing it.

Very interesting! I like learning all these new things, especially about a car that I love!

Same thing has happened to my R500. Your transmission needs valve body replacement. The car will seem fine but the jerk MAY come back. If it does, it is a lemon. Make sure the service department writes "jerk in down shifting" when you drop your car at the dealership.

had similar problem with mine. the dealer updated the ecu software with a newer version, and i think they changed the trans oil while at it. drives like a dream. now. mine was at only 2000 miles.
good luck

Software upgrade at dealership is a waste of time. Please ask for valve body replacement. You need 4 similar complaints @ 2 different dealers to qualify for buyback. MB is pretty good about it.

Common reset for the following BMW's E90/E60/E65/E70 also for all the new F series too. Faster and smoother transmission shifting.
