S550 AMG Kit

Found a salvage 2008 S550 with the AMG kit and rims. It was damage as part of a flood so the car is totaled due to water damaged. Owner is offering the body kit for $2,500 but I have to remove the kit from the car myself or hire someone to do it. Is this a good price and is there anything I should watch out for? Body of the car still appears to be in good shape. The car is black so I don't have to worry about repainting it.

No; the AMG package is $5,600. To buy the parts individually as aftermarket parts you would be looking at much more than $2500. The bumper would be approx $1,200, the lower mesh grilles $400, the fog lights approx $200 each. I have no idea on the side skirts but the rear bumper would also be about $1,200. The wheels if you are lucky to find them at any place but a dealer about $ 400 each.

If the original poster is going to do the deal he should check with a body shop that does MB autos. It is very possible that there will be parts that do not meet the eye that will need to be changed out. Things like the bumper reinforcements, fender linings especially the front. The reason I say this is recently I had the SL55 performance package front end put on my SL55. The conversion took 34 different parts to complete the change out. Some of the parts seemed rather innocuous but were part of the puzzle to make it work.
