It isn't very clear from the manual but according to the US manual you too have the option to select the city centre for the destination. If I remember right, you just select the city and then instead of entering the street, select the second row on the Comand options menu and select "center".

The city centre may not always be the city centre you would consider the real centre, I don't know how the map data supplier defines the centre, specifically for some smaller rural places.
