07 s550 Missing Phone and Voice Control Pre-Wiring
Hello folks, great forum.
I think I may be SOL on this one, but was looking for others that may know a little more on this topic to validate it for me. I purchased a used 07 s550 still under factory warranty. I needed to get hands-free Bluetooth working, so I grabbed myself the appropriate puck. When I went to install, I was surprise to find that there is no connector for it in the center hand rest compartment. I took it to the dealership, they charged me $50 to do a “short test” and they confirmed there is no pre-wiring.
I called MB customer service, and after a little confusion the rep told me that I had a “06 first edition model” (even though it’s an 07 s550) and that the pre-wiring wasn’t part of the originally purchased package. The dealer says they can’t install the wiring after the fact.
Now, I had read some rumors on one of these forums that the omission of the pre-wiring on the early 07 models was supposed to be remediated by a factory warranty item. The reps and service people I have talked to have all been surprised and a bit confused that my s550 does not have the pre-wiring or voice control wiring. It was only the one rep that looked at my sales sticker in her database that said that I just didn’t have it because it’s optional on my “edition”.
Does anyone have more light to shed on this weirdness?

Sorry man. It does not sound like MB will have a fix for you. Sorry... There's always the Jupiter Jack:

I noticed in the "MBUSA W221 Bulletins to date" thread, one of the first listings: "P-I-82.70/481B AUG06 Cellular telephone installation". I suppose I will ask the dealer about this one, but was curious if anyone had a clue so that I can ask the right questions.

The first launch S-Class vehicles were shipped without phone systems to meet deadlines all 221s should have had them unfortunately you should have got this fixed a lot sooner when they were doing the installs under warranty. The car can have a phone kit installed you just need to buy the parts you don't need to install a jupiter jack lol. If you do want to install a phone kit I can get you more info on it. Just send me a pm if interested.
