I am a fan of the LED lights on the Audi. I think they look very nicely done. But I am just not liking it on the 2010 s class. It doesn't look right. I don't even think Mercedes should have put them there to begin with because it looks a bit tacky on an S Class.

I am not a fan of the LED's on any of the current makes. Have you seen what Rover did on their truck? The "angel eyes" on the BMW are fine but all this LED stuff (forward facing - I like LED tails) is weak / seems more Asian manufacture then German.

Really like the '10 S-Class new-tech lighting....shows off the advanced lighting tech (smart xenons, LED DRL, LED fast response taillights, etc)...and IMO advanced lighting is a major part of styling/visual presence (and active safety) of cars when lit-up and in motion in traffic
One of first lines of active safety defense is others easily, quickly seeing car in any light/weather, esp in a world where most drivers don't even turn on their dim non-xenons in rain/fog...or ever use their turn signals

People don't like change. Period. Everytime the manufacturer introduces a new style, there's always someone who hates it and prefers the old style, calling it a "murder of style" and whatnot.
Usually, coincidentally, they happen to own the older models.
Then in a few years, all these same people will buy that same car and heralds it as the best thing that is ever produced.
Embrace change. Its what makes us human.

You're probably right to a certain degree. However, I had a 98 BMW 740iL that I updated to the 2001 lights. Also did the same on my 06 E500.
Not saying I won't do it in the future, but as of now, I like the original better.

Certain change/new looks can be more polarizing but the facelift of the W221 certainly isn't bad, in my books. Initially I didn't like the new tail lights and LED fogs much (found it tacky). But after I've seen it in person for the first time, wow. After seeing them at night once, I now think they have fully grown on me (maybe partly b/c I have a thing for cars that have nice lights). Having said that, if in AMG trim/appearance pkg, I still prefer pre-facelift ones, for now. I'm sure they'll grow on me.
There are definitely also times when new designs are harder to grow into, such as the new 7 series. Still can't get over the new oversized kidney grille.
Other than that, I'm one that's receptive to change. Love the front of the new E, and the rear has grown on me. So much so I'm considering getting one!

I've already done the rear lights conversion. Going to get the side mirrors soon and probably sit on the front headlights till more people have done it. The wiring is quite tricky I heard because there's more wiring involved due to the LED city lights.
When I first put on the new rear taillights, I was like meeeh....did I just turn my car into a Nissan Teana? Then I turn the lights on at night and seeing the circular led brake lights turn on, I was like whoa....ok. That's nice. For $900ish, can't really go wrong to freshen up the look.
By the way, this is a Nissan Teana....ehehhe....In Indo, this car is sub $40k, which would probably make it around $15-$18k in the US.

CL65 AMG , white S550 Sport w/ white Giovanna 22s, wild custom chopper
after I've updated the rear lights to the LED type, and they KILL the old lights. the old lights with the two whites stripes looks like some ghetto modification - not even like a stock set of lights :-)
the new rear lights give the car a Maybach-type look/feel - looks a lot more classy and clean. these are matter of opinion of course - not everyone likes the new look right now. for those of you that feel that way - give it some time, it will grow on you.
