just got my s550
whats up everybody just sold my slk55 and picked up a blk on blk sportpackage and thinking about lowering it and was wondering if any of u guys had lowered their car and how is the ride?

Congrats Todd,
I lowered my ride with links, the ride is identical to the original height. I know others have lowered their rides with a Renntech Lowering Module. I can't speak how the car rides for with the Renntech, but I'm sure someone will give you their opinion.

Depends on how low you go, the lower the more harsh. Mine is pretty low you only see half the sidewall on the tires under the fender. I like the look and ride is good for my taste.

rides fine - mine sits on 22s, lowered front and here. rear is adjustable, no mods needed. front works by getting different linkages. another way is where holes are drilled and linkages are bolted into the new hole, but avoid that like hell :-)

I use renntech ELM with remote and the ride is very smooth even at 2.0 drop. Depends on what your definiton of smooth/harsh is (how sensitive your butt is). For me its very smooth even on 22's (which became a problem since even when you hit potholes you dont really feel the "thump" until later on when your tire guy tells you the wheels are bent)

there is a place where i live hw motorsports, they said they charged me 400 for lowering it and i will have two mode normal and low, but didnt ask in detail,
can u higher or lower the car with a push of a button with links?
can u higher or lower the car with a push of a button with links?

No you can't, in order to raise or lower the car you have to adjust the links manually. The only way to raise or lower at the push of a button is to get a lowering module and I'm pretty sure they cost around $1000-$2000 depending on the brand.

It cost me 250.00 for the links and 35 minutes of my time, as for lowering and raising, you will sit lower but you can always raise the car temporarily with the push of the raise button on your dash to go over those deep dips in driveways.(no problems for me) Mine rides good with 22's as well.

i work in newport beach maybe we can meet up sometime, is it hard to install the links? with the fenders laying on half of your tires, how many inches does it rise after u press the up buttton? and i thought if u uses the links u cant raise up the car?

I agree with Jta, going with links are the most cost effective and easiest way to go. In those instances when you need to raise the car because of a bump or low driveway, my car rises about an inch and a half to two inches above the top of the wheel. I have my ride lowered about an inch in the rear and an inch and a half in the front.

thanks everyone for the info..i think i will use the links to lower my car, my 22" maya is in the shop for black powered coating and it should be done in two weeks and hw motorsport will lower it too, and i will post some pics...

Hey Todd,
If you are mechanically inclined, I would install the links myself and save yourself some money. The installation is so simple, it shouldn't take you longer than and hour or less. If you allow the motorsport to do it for you, its a good chance that they will over charge you. Here's a link to a thread I responded to awhile back that has the installation instructions. Good luck and post some pictures when you complete the project.
