2009 S550V4 Saks Key to Cure
I have not yet installed one. The issue I (and you) will run into is where to install the laser shifters. Per Escort, they can't be behind any plastic. So either the are installed on the outside of the bumper or I was thinking in between the slabs on the grill. The first option leaves them somewhat susceptible to theft. The second option requires a little experimentation but remains hidden. Either way, you'll need it professionally installed. It'll run $500-600 based on quotes I've received here in STL.

According to Escort's website, Paul Miller BMW is listed as an authorized dealer and installer. Also Escort shows that you can purchase a InstallCard for $400.00 which will allow you to get it installed professionally.
How it works
How it works
- Pay for the InstallCard
- Go online (InstallCard.com) and activate the InstallCard*
- Provide information about the location of installation or your vehicle.
- Provide information about product to be installed.
- Pick an Installer/Location.
- Provide contact information.
- Pick a preferred schedule date.
- InstallerNet calls customer to confirm details of installation and requested schedule.
- Customer takes vehicle to installer.
- Installation is done.
- Customer gives installer their InstallCard upon completion.

has anyone here been successful at getting a detector to work with K band detection on a car with Distronic? Distronic Plus w/ pre safe brake constantly set my V1 off until I disabled K band detection on it.

Reading thru several posts, to the original OP's question;
how about knowing your environment, using your brain, your eyes and common sense?
...or I'm too blunt?

Sounds good, but unfortunately sometimes use all those things and still get a ticket. When you take in consideration that there are certain cars that are targeted nationwide, those factors are thrown out the window. Though we may want to think that only people that speed gets tickets, I can tell you from experience that's not true.

Going 85 in a 65 on an empty highway endangers no one but they'll still ticket you as they lurk under a bridge.
I recommend V1, for what it's worth. Whatever you get, use the radar as your last line of defense not the first. I have a clean license using this method which is easier said than done given my vehicle's penchant for triple digits.

Hey BrabusMan,
I'm going to go with the Passport 9500ci, do you have any pictures of installations you've done on an S550? I've been looking on the internet to see if anyone who has install one in the S550, but haven't been able find anything.

We usually install the GPS antenna on front hood under the intake grill. Perfect reception, no issues and ZERO visibility.
The 9500ci also has fully updatable software, hundreads of setting configurations and alerts and is by far the most advance radar/laser protection on the market.
The V1 offers no PROTECTION from laser. It will alert you (big deal, it's like telling someone you just got punched in the face) but that is it. IMHO today you need some type of passive protection, i.e. a laser shifter, or your simply driving around with a noise maker.
The other reason I love the 9500ci is the GPS. It elminates false alerts and significantly reduces the amount of noise the units makes. Now when it goes off your either in an unfamilar area -or- it is a legit threat.
