Did anyone try to install a Digital TV Turner in their S550? I looked about 7 months ago and there were not any digital tv turners available for autos. But now I see these guys and some more on ebay:

I was thinking going through the RCA input in the glove box but what about the antennas? Windshield is shielded and I am not sure if the signal from the window antennas will get through.

Am I the only one that would like to watch live news and sports in the car?

I've had the system in my e-500 and loved it. But since analog tv went away there aren't a lot of digital options.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 09 S550 and live in San Francisco.

From what I understand is that in order to receive a digital TV signal the antenna would have to be stationary which vehicles are not. I am sure there would be many people making them if it was possible. There is a big market for TVs in cars.

I live in the SF Bay area, and have installed an OTA antenna to pick up the HD broadcasts because nothing (Cable, Satellite, U-Verse) beats the HD quality. That said the Digital TV signal is very directional and just won't work very well in Cars. Besides with a Tivo recorder I can copy shows to any device I want and play in the car.

I can record anything on DVD or ipod to watch in the car but it is the live tv/news that I am looking for. With the analog system it worked pretty good in the car while moving but digital I am not so sure.
