I believe Charcoal and Black are the same. With the S550, there's an option for Charcoal/Black leather and Premium Charcoal/Black leather. Go for the Premium....there's definitely a difference!

I have the non-premium, the premium feels much softer... It's like a difference between a fake and a real LV handbag - ask your chic :-)

That would mean the Premium would wear easier and always appear "wrinkled" being softer.

He was the one that hunted down my wife's '07 S550 (P2 car, somewhere around 25k miles, distronic, AMG package) for $55,700 9 months ago. The car was slightly more expensive that it was supposed to be because Arctic White is very desirable. Also, 3 quarters have passed by, the cars have depreciated, you should be able to get a steal in the high 40k range.

There are also auctions on the east coast - you should be able to find a dealer/broker that has an account with Manheim auctions...

I've spent endless hours the past 2 days looking up S550's on Autotrader, Ebay, Cars.com, etc. Not finding anything in the high 40's with decent miles, P2, and AMG package. Everything is Mid 50's.

I don't know if it would be any worse than non-premium leather - I'm getting some wear/wrinkles faster than I remember getting in my CL55 which has premium leather. Don't be so quick to talk yourself out of features :-)

sometimes they aren't ordered by the customer, when managers order cars for dealership to sell off the lot they can be randomly spec'd with odd options, just fyi for the weird configuration doesn't exactly mean it was for a driver lol

Weird.
I was looking at a local ad selling 2004 maybe 05' E55 (definitely wasnt listed as 03') and it had this exact same front pic.
Tried contacting the seller numerous time but hardly replied.
So after many faied attempt to contact him i finalky moved on a bought a 2008 E550 4matic with 109Km, new tires, rotors, pads, mint interior, very strong and quiet engine for $15500 canadian.
Very please with the car and its very strong and healthy for its age. Cant get use to the poor gas mileage though after driving 2012 e350 before this one. 😃
