2009 S550 Headrest Problem

I was rear ended on Monday, February 15th. There are few minor scratches on my rear bumper and no other external damage. However, my driver’s side headrest popped out. I followed the directions from the owner’s manual but was not able to reset it. When I took it to my local Mercedes dealer, the mechanic was not able to reset it and suggested that I should get a new headrest. I have an appointment at another dealer on Moday, February 21, but on the phone they said that they can try but could not guarantee that they will be able to fix it. The manual clearly outlines the steps on how to reset the headrest. Are both dealers trying to pull a fast one on me or the manual is incorrect and I have to get a new headrest? Anybody experienced this problem, and how did you solve it?

You don't need a new headrest. The manual is correct. They are difficult to reset though. Try sitting in the back seat and pulling the headrest down and toward you with some force. Also, before doing this, make sure the headrests are lowered a bit.

Don't even try to do it with some force, it happened to my friend's car and it takes 10 sec to do it all you need to do it use the small tool pictures on the manual and you should see a small circle hole in the middle of the headrest, put that tool in and you should hear a click then put back the headrest the way it was. if you need more help then take a picture for the headrest and I will explain more.

some of the dealers are useless, we know more about our cars than they do.
just try different dealers. good luck.

I can't locate it too, what I recommend is to go to another dealer and let them look at it
