Possibly getting s550 07 or 08

what are the things i should get?

I know i want the AMG pkg.
but what else are options that set it apart?

pano roof
massaging seats? is this something worth it?
navi (standard, right?)
cooling seats (is this worth it?)

anything else i should consider?

Navi is standard. Cooling seats are not worth it. They're horrible. They are included in the P2 package which you should definitely get at least since it comes with Keyless Go and Parktronic (two great options).
If you can find one with Active Body Control, take it. The difference in the handling of S-Classes with and without ABC is huge.

I have to disagree on the cooling seats; I totally love this feature. Actually, they are much better on the S550 (more subtle and comfortable) than on the 750 (where I once got a cold just from that).

You do have the facelifted 2010 model. I wonder if they made any changes to the ventilated seats. On mine, you can hardly feel they're on. It's not even "cooling" seats. They're ventilated as all they do is recirculate cabin air through the seats. What are they like on your 2010?

Backup Camera for sure. Pano roof not so much.

P2 is a great feature mainly for the keyless go. The rear camera is very helpful considering this truck is almost as long as an Escalade ESV. The cooled seats are pretty much worthless. After 1/2 hour you can kinda tell they might be working. In my wife's ESV the seats get COLD in 2 minutes...

I believe that the ventilated seats indeed recirculate the air of whatever temperature the particular seating zone is set to. It definitely doesn't blast cold air at you as the BMW does (very uncomfortably so); my kidneys and the prostate appreciate that subtlety very much. In my opinion, it does the "ventilation" job just right -- and that's what I like about it.

A Mercedes obviously!
Strange the W221 cooling seats is almost worthless. My father's old W220 had them and they were an excellent and particularly effective feature. My W220 has them but have not used them yet..

2007 S550; BMW740; 2010 barolo S550 on order
people are offbase about the w221 air seats. having driven a 1995 740 for 10 years, i always wanted the air cooling that the w220 had. this may not apply to everyone but if you ever find your shirt sticking to your back in the summer, this is a must-have. if you have never had this problem with leather seats, then maybe you dont need it. i would never buy a car w/o it - even though the air is not cold.
its like many options - personal preference. thats why they are options. hopefully this gives you enough to judge 4 yourself.

ive never seen a S550 w/o the P2, except the NY livery - dont know about your market, but around here i would expect a used 07 to have it - for good reason. due to its body shape, this car is harder than bmw to know exactly where your bumpers are, so the parktronic is more useful than a good driver might think (if you live in an area where you need to judge inches on all sides). the camera isnt as useful as i thought it would be, partly because its quality is not nearly as good as the new 2010 750s, but it does help if you need to back into narrow spaces alot. that (aside from superior cornering) is the one thing the 750 has over the S.

i got my w221 when it first came out and the pano roof wasnt quite available, tho i wanted it. i did order it on my new barolo red 2010 but cant comment on whether its worth it. i got it for my 3 kids. if u r looking at a 07 i wouldnt expect to find it that easily - but that may depend on the market.

the standard COMAND navi is the best.
after 3 years with keyless go i feel like i'm going back to the 80s when i get into my wifes car and have to get the key out of my pocket. im trying to convince her to buy a new car with it so that i can drive her car again.

I have an 08 S550 and I think the ventilated seats are great. I use them 100% of the time especially when the seat heaters are on.

I'm not a big fan of the backup camera. By the time, the image appears, I have already backed up. I'm too impatient, I guess.

Wow, the backup camera must have improved a lot in MY2010! The image is extremely clear and shows us right when the car is put in R (no delay). Actually, it had already saved me some trouble twice.

thanks everyone for your input.

This is my observation.
Most of the cars in the area has P2 from what i have seen so far.

Backup Camera and PDC - I have to admit they are nice. I have it on my 5 Series and the PDC (front and rear) has made my parking a real easy task (parallel that is, lol). The rear Camera I don't have it and for some reason reminds me of minivan and Lexus. I am sure if I get it, I will like it.

cool seats - this is something I do not have on either my 7 or 5 series. Also, i live in relatively decent weather area and never really had back wet from summer days. But again, i think I wouldn't mind this option as well.

Trunk closer - this is a kewl option, but i honestly ever use the trunk in my car. I am sure as I have kids in the future the stroller and stuff will be great to carry and I will probably end up liking it.

Panaroma Roof - I just think it looks kewl. Never had it on any car. I have owned Convertibles and few Targe tops, so sometimes once in a while I like to have the top completely open and drive around. In general, the window and roof stay closed 98% of the time with as dark as tint as possible. I have light issues.

Rear climate control - I think again would be a plus, but I also hardly ever have people in the rear (once in a while).

key less - again should be covered under the p2 and this is also going to be new. I know i know i am living in 1970s or something as i think even Hyandais have this option now.

Night vision??? does anyone have this? and your experience with it?

I have found several s550 ranging from 43k to 59k. 43k is no amg pkg and no pano, p2 and few other goodies. The 59k has all the goodies amg pkg, pano, night vision, heat/kewl seats and the color i want. although 59k seems a little high for 07 I think.

Please provide further input. Thanks.

Night Vision was making me extremely dizzy on the test drive and didn't really provide any useful notification (like a beep or something); you pretty much have to shift your eyes between the windshield and the monitor, which is very distracting in my opinion (especially when it's raining). If they improve it in the future where it can project the image onto the windshield and/or provide some audible notification, I may reconsider getting it, but for now it's one more gadget that may break and a waste of money.

Don't really care for the panorama sunroof; I feel that it compromises the structural integrity of the roof.

Love the power trunk. I don't have kids either, but I do put the shopping bags in the trunk, so the touch open and auto close features (especially the single button door lock) are very convenient.

The 4-zone climate control is part of the Rear Seat package which is really nice (though rare). I almost never have any passengers back there, but I like for everyone to travel in comfort should the need arise.

I have night vision and it's great if you have to drive through the boon docks and dodge deer on the roads. Or drive where people jog on the raods at night. Definitely is just an extra that helps see objects in very dark conditions. My fav option though is the dynamic seats!!! You gotta get it. Fills the side bolsters as you turn to keep you in place. your chair is 100% customizable from seat softness, lumbar support, side bolsters and it includes 4 massage settings which come in handy on rough days.

I am also looking for a CPO 2007 S550 in the Bay Area Ca, and often ask to see the original MSRP sticker price to see what option packages are included.

I notice on one such sticker the description 267 Baumuster Designation listed under Standard Accessories. Does anybody know what it is?

Also, under Optional Accessories, below the P2A Premium II $2,850 (listing all the Premium II features like Parktronic, Heated and Ventilated Front Seats Sirius Satellite Radio and Keyless Go) there is a line 127 Credit for 396 Voice Control CREDIT $-500.
(yes, minus $500). Does anybody know what this is?

Thank you.

Also, the tire and wheels package (approx $1,000 / 5 years) and the appearance plus package (approx $500/5 years, including dings, but not scratches) are also offered in conjunction with a CPO car. (along with extended warranty). What does anybody think about those 2 packages?

I have both of those packages, I think the tire & wheel package is worth it. Honestly I think that the package for the ding removal is over priced, on the average you can expect to pay about $50.00 to get a "paintless ding" removed. I've used the claim once to remove a dent, but I could have just as easily pay the $50.00 for the removal. That's my two cents.

Thank you for your opinion. The appearance plus package covers not just dings, but also paint exterior and carpet and leather interior, but I see your point. Where I park at work, for some reason, my car (dark colored) always get some bird droppings every day, and they are difficult to remove if you wait even one day later, that's why I am considering it.

Does anyone know what the description 267 Baumuster Designation, or the line 127 Credit for 396 Voice Control CREDIT $-500, both on the original MSRP sticker, may mean..

The market of used s550 sucks. Just looked at it around where I am at and nothing good. A lot of non-AMG pkg cars and wierd boring colors. Going to keep on looking.

Does anyone know what the description 267 Baumuster Designation, or the line 127 Credit for 396 Voice Control CREDIT $-500, both on the original MSRP sticker, may mean..

You're right the appearance plus does cover the leather and the paint as well. I remember when I took delivery of my car they had just put the compound on my car designed to protect the paint. To me it looked like a sealant for the paint that is no was designed to last 5 years and personally I've fully detailed my car at least twice and that sealant was definitely stripped off. I think this option is beneficial if you're hard on your car or live in a harsh environment. If I had to do it again I would have decline the Appearance Plus Package, but this is just my opinion. Good luck on the car.
