Buying 2007 S550 - Sound Fishy??

Hi...I am looking at buying a 2007 S550...car has low miles(20K) and is very clean. One big concern, the dealer said the car has an "in service" date of January 2006, meaning the factory warranty is expired. I thought the 2007's came out in mid 2006 so how could this car have been delivered and in service at the beginning of 2006. Also, the car fax(link attached) shows quite a bit of work on this vehicle...all thoughts are appreciated...thank you.

it is not uncommon for benz's to have low miles. all car has problems so more work done before the warranty the better for u. also 2007 earlier models had some tsb's which I guess only makes the car better. if its a clean carfax certified, car fax will buy it back if there is ever anything wrong with it. also make sure u buy it from an authorised benz dealer, they can pull up a comprehensive history on the car too. also if u gat a good deal on the car then u can invest in a good extended warranty. very important. good luck.

Are you buying from a Benz dealer? If so, the car can be certified which will give you another year of factory warranty and 100k total miles. You can also buy more time on the warranty, up to 3 additional years. Well worth the money if you intend on keeping it.

I wouldn't worry much about the repairs unless its collision related. The early cars had a lot of service bulletins which is not uncommon in the first year of a redesign. Sounds like this may have been one of the first ones off the line.

If you are not buying from a Benz dealer I would proceed with caution. At the least have it inspected.

Good Luck! Let us know how it goes.

Car Fax looks fine. Nothing unusual. Looks like you have new rotors and brakes as well at 21k. Again, no issue with that. It's also certified. I would have no problem buying this car if it were me. Again, I highly recommend extending the warranty.

I don't like the part of Carfax regarding rotors ( rear and front ) at 20K miles. Ussually it takes much longer to change rear rotors. This dealer can't sell this car for a long time. I'm seeing this add at least 2,5 - 3 months.

Does anyone know if you can purchase add'l warranty after a car is purchased and has the CPO on it. For example, if you are currently in the CPO period but want to add to that for after it expires.

Would appreciate any thoughts for reputable companies that do this and MB dealerships acknowledge/accept. Thx.

I see the vehicle link indicates "sale pending". If that is you that is purchasing the vehicle, congratulations on the purchase of what I think is a nice car and a good deal.

Not unusual for heavy city driving?

Actually not. You may change pads, but rotors, especially front ones -it takes at least 40K till first replacement even in heavy city driving. But..anyway...as long as the buyer aware of what he's buying - it's okay...

Yes, if you bought the car CPO and it is still under the CPO warranty period, then you can buy more warranty.

OP, I looked at the VMI and am not sure you would want this car if it was not CPO'd.
