2010 US S550 USB Jack

I've searched the forum for any info on the USB jack in the glove compartment of my car and found nothing.

I'm currently copying all of my music onto a 1TB WD bus powered drive and will begin experimenting to see if I can get it to come up.

The manual says nothing about the HD formatting. I am assuming FAT32 but has anyone tried Mac formatting?

Any helpful clues about file structure etc?

Thanks.

Here's an update on my experiment.

I was able to get my Western Digital MyPassport 1TB drive to fire up and play music, plugged into the USB port. It has about 350 gigs of songs on it organized into folders by artist and then by album.

The drive is formatted FAT32 from my Mac.

COMAND is able to see the folders and play the songs, and they sound great. The biggest issue is speed. It takes about 5 minutes after start for COMAND to sort through the folders, and even then it has not indexed them using the ID tags - it only knows the title.

It offers the option to search through the songs by artist or album, but when that's selected, it begins indexing the drive, and I am not sure how long that would take to do (it could take days) so I have not tried it yet.

Random track play is possible, but sometimes seems sketchy and locks up (no sound), requiring a "reboot."

All in all, it seems like it could work well, but in my case COMAND is probably overwhelmed by the sheer volume of tracks I am trying to feed it.

I do, but the iPod is limited to 160GB at the absolute max.

I'm experimenting with a 1 terabyte drive, holding a library of 350GB.
