First S550 I've seen for $35K outside of an Auction. I'll throw in that you are missing out on the true potential of the S550 if you buy one with few options.

Just goes to prove why a clean low mileage optioned car is going for $50's...

yeah, no parktronic, looks very base. and miles are very very high. Although Benzes are known to last forever if they are well maintained. Not bad for a second S class... Hmmmm..... =)

Porsche Cayenne S, MB E430, & M3
also in an area where there are a lot of S classes, so the supply is def. high and drive the prices down. if it's an accident free car with clean record not a bad deal at all.

I for one would not buy an S with that many miles. High mileage S classes have serious maintenance concerns, especially when you have no idea how well the car was treated. Just changing the airbags alone is $4k+. The price isn't terrible, but for a little more your can get a better car....

I second this, watch out for 65k+ S-classes considering you have no knowledge of how they have been maintained and treated throughout the current lifecycle.

there's always a tradeoff buying a used car -- risk of wear and tear and related inconvenience v. money in the bank -- I think this sides on the risky side a little too far. 82k miles is asking for a major mechanical issue given the electronics in the car.
