brake dust

What kind of replacement pads are best for reduced brake dust on an 09 s550 4matic.
What are the pluses and minuses for these pads?

Softer pads give you shorter stopping distance, less or no squeak but more brake dust. Harder pads just the opposite. I recommend you stick with OEM pads but these cars need weekly cleaning to remove brake dust.

A heavy coat of synthetic wax (polymer based not carnuba) on the wheels makes the cleaning much easier. I can get 95% of brake dust removed with just a water hose.

Good luck.

Try Porterfield pad lots of Benz owners rave about them (myself included). Not much different from OEM in compound but worlds better in dust free.

Any difference in pedal feel or stopping distance with the Porterfield pads?

I have had the Porterfields on my 07 E550. They had virtually no dust, no squeal, but had marginally higher pedal effort until they warmed up. All in all I was very happy....
