Converting speedometer to metric (km)
Hey everyone,
Just got my 2007 S550 4Matic shipped from the US to the Middle-East. I wonder if it's possible to convert the speedometer from miles to kilometers. Is it done through setting or do I need to replace the instrument cluster?

My 2007 S550 is on the way from the U.S. it should arrive in 3 to 4 weeks.
Another concern: I expected and was told that the navigation in the U.S. cars will not work in the Middle-East. I've been researching what options I have. Do I need to replace the COMAND APS NTG3? if so, do I install the European version and the map disk for the Middle-East? or is it possible to modify/re-program the original U.S. unit. Any idea?

For the speedometer w221 07-09 you will need to change the whole thing but for the 2010 you can do it your self. If you are in Jeddah I do have someone that can change it for you.

I'm in Jeddah. You're right about 2010 i was at the dealer the other day and the salesman changed the big white speedometer dials from km to mile in 3 easy steps from the steering wheels. I was excited that I could do the same when my 07 arrives but now according to you I will have to either live with it or replace the instrument cluster. Any idea how much this would cost?
As for the navigation, the ebay part is designed for COMAND APS 2.5. The 07 S550 uses COMAND APS 3, so I guess it won't work. Do you know anyone in Jeddah for that too?
