to extend warranty or not

well im not buying the car i was, the seller backed out.

the car im leaning towards is an 07, s550, amg, p2, wood. all i need.
22k miles, but the factory 48 months expired like last week,

its was recently given a good bill of health, so im not worried about whats wrong now, but what could come. i would normally be the first to just buy one, but here are mt concerns.

i have a few friends at the dealer, parts manager, service manage, techs, writers, i know em all.

i get parts for cost, and my guy does the work for like 40 and hour on the side, so if something goes wrong, it will cost me waaay less than most people.

and the tech told me, flat out. the s class doesnt break, if its been fine for 20k, its probbaly good. and he really doesnt have many problems with the new gen of s cars at all, almost nothign.

i am only gonna keep it a year, year and a half tops, why spend 3 or 4 k for a warranty?
is that what they are goin for?

opinions?

thanks

This must not be a daily driver. I have the same exact car, and it kills tires and gets rocks and whatever other elemental nightmares that come with the territory. If you have that hookup, then that is your bootleg insurance policy against the expensive cost of outside ownership.

The airbag bladders, TMPS, alignment, service C, B, D, etc and God only knows what else. At 39k, I have had em all. There is a reason that the seller is even considering; and it's probably not economics....lol

good luck and join the Family.

There are a lot of high end ultra low mile cars here in palm beach. We get so manny people who are wealthy and only here for a couple months a year that these 4 and 5 year old cars with 15 to 20k miles on them are everywhere.

Guy selling is a local wholesaler i know.

Going to take it to the dealer and have them do a full inspection today I think. I'll price some warranties while I'm there.

I normally do not buy an extended warranty on anything with two exceptions in my lifetime. My first HD TV 5 years ago and my S55 AMG, both have been great decisions. I spent $3K for the warranty, total repair costs have been $7K so far and I have a year to go on the warranty.

I highly recommend it.

I would never own a S-Class without a warranty and I work at a dealer and get my car worked on for free. One thing goes wrong and a warranty can pay for itself. The cars are great vehicles, but things happen and when they do it's big money on that car.
