S600 with Deactivated Splitview? 83p??
Just picked up my 2010 S600. While I wanted Splitview, the only model available in my timeframe and color preference didn't have it. Or did it??
The COMAND LCD in the car is the Splitview unit with the diffractive grating. Looking at it on center it blacks out. Including the rear seat entertainment units there are 3 remote controls and 3 headphones. So all of the hardware for Splitview is present. But there is no menu option for it.
Intriguingly, on the invoice is listed "Splitview $700" and "Credit Splitview with 83p –$700".
Could this be how they handle cars that are destined for states in which Splitview is illegal? Except I live in New York where it IS legal.
Does anyone know if I am sitting on a secret feature that just needs a flash upgrade to activate?
By the way, while the 2007 S600 was spectacular, the 2010 is extra spectacular. The steering gear is particularly buttery yet responsive. The light poplar wood really pops. Can't wait to try out the new assist gadgets!

My dealer said it looked like they reconfigured the car while it was being built. The technology guru at service is looking into seeing if a flash update or some other magic can turn it on.
All Splitview displays are inactive until delivery so they can ensure that it is not active in states where it is not allowed. Hopefully this activation is all that the car needs.
Compared to the non-Splitview display, the new display is not as bright, and if you view it from off center it dims out. The center rear passenger gets a half dimmed-out view.
