if it exists from the factory, then it exists, and mbenznl can probably do the install
I have a 220 and asked at the dealer about retrofitting the factory side blinds. It's very possible, just extremely expensive. You basically need two new door interiors, and the estimated price was 4K-5K. Tint is 350 max, and First Step baby blinds are about $25

what was your cost to build?
Also, I have a 2004 220, not a 221. how hard would it be to adapt?
thanks

Interested in this too... looking forward to pics.
There were some curtain type universal fit shades on Ebay but cant seem to find them now... They slid on plastic tracks held to the window trim by 3M strips...

Here are the pictures.
i did it in my factory and i will start to distribute then in 4-6 month.
if you are interested in getting them sooner, i can have them ready in 3 weeks (if i will get at least 10 orders).
The cost is $95 for both sides (rear only)
As you can see in the Pictures they got a very thin Hook that allow the shade to go up and down with the window, you can roll down your window on the freeway and the shade will not cripple or move.

First it is dark because the pics were taken at night time, it exactly the same fabric like the rear shade (the retractable one).
Second, it is the rear side windows so you can go as dark as you'd like.

I use the factory side and rear blinds on my S550 to act like tinting and give a bit of extra security by darkening the rear interior compartment when parked. I always liked that feature of the tinting on my MLs. However, I think the retractable blinds give the passenger more flexibility on using the sunshade or not than fixed tinting.
Also, I have my programmable button on the console set to raise or lower the rear blind.
Top marks for the retrofit, but if you have the chance, select the factory blinds for perfect integration.

But again...if you are ordering your new benz make sure you are getting the oem ones
