2007 s550

Creaking seats?

Anybody else notice creaks coming from the seats when cornering? I suppose I only notice because the rest of the car is so quiet, but I find it annoying.

Any fixes available?

Yes, Take the trim off the side of the seat base and raise the seat all the way. Spray lithium grease on the hinge as you move the back of the seat forward and backwards. That solved it for me...

On my E500 it was the housing for the rear footwell light fitting poorly because it had partially melted. Replacement fixed it. Not sure if there is analogous part on the S.

There's actually a TSB that addresses this - I don't have the number at the moment. If your car is under warranty your SA will get it fixed for you.

A couple sprays of lithium grease on the hinge, plust a little WD40 liberally applied to the plastic cover for the fulcrum/hinge connecting the seatbottom to the seatback, did the trick.

I had a similar sounding problem, a creak maybe 10 times on a 15 minute drive, more evident when cornering or accelerating/decelerating. The car is so quiet it was distracting, so I asked mt SA about it. He took the car out with a tech and ended up replacing the seat frame under warranty. No sounds as yet.
