Leaving MBWorld.

This is my last thread! After 5 MB's, I decided to abandon my loyalty for the Mercedes-Benz brand, and purchased a 2011 Jaguar XJ Supercharged instead.
I wish you all good luck, and safe motoring in your W221's!

Not so fast!
Let us know your impressions of the new Jag and how it compares to your experiences with the SClass.

They are definitely unique and beautiful. Funny you say this as I test drove one Saturday. I was amazed at how much power and torque it had. I also learned that they had to abandon the leper on the hood because of silly pedestrian safety laws.

Indeed, the grass does appear greener on the other side...but is it?

I test drove the same car and loved it! It certainly jumped ahead of the S in terms of performance. I hope the reliability continues jag's recent improvement.

Well, perhaps a few more threads.
I will do that, but give me a few months, because:
1) I have to wait until next month, or even January to get the car. ( As when I waited for my S550, patience is not my forte!)
2) It is hard to evaluate a car overnight.

So do I; but I understand that they learned ( or got some tune-ups,) from Ford, and Tata.

Nothing wrong with a change from time to time. Except for one, the MB's I had were good vehicles.

Leapers are not permitted in Europe. I asked for one, and will get one. ( Not mounted, however.) After having had a star for so many years, I will see if I can get used to do without.
I would not be surprised to see you behind a leaper one of these days!

Although Ford is no longer married to Jag, they left them with terrific management leftovers such a supplier perks and connections.

What color are you getting? The one on the floor at the dealership in B'Ham , AL is stunning. It is a vapour grey with london tan leather. 20" wheels too. Only missing option is adaptive cruise.

Those blasted forums are addictive!
I got a lunar grey exterior, with oyster interior, ivory seats with oyster contrast stitch and piping ivory suede headcloth, oak wood, inside. 20" Karuga wheels.
The adaptive cruise ( or some form of it,) is available here. I chose the standard cruise control because I had issues with my Distronic Plus on the S550. Assuming that the adaptive cc on Jags would be similar, ( they have to follow government DOT's specifications) I stuck with the older system.
I must say, the new XJ got to me. The only thing I do not like is the different size of tires between front and rear, otherwise
We switched because my wife never drove the S550. She claimed it was too long to handle. ( So I got one that is 5" shorter. I hope she will not notice it is only 5"; while I will be able to CAT-nap on long trips. )

I think the Jag uses microwave instead of radar, but I never had a problem with my S class radar based system other than the fact that it triggered radar detectors causing surrounding traffic to slow down which in turn slowed me down

2007 CLS63 DISIGNO GRAPHITE EDITION
I don't know if this should be on this thread but...... I traded my 2008 CLS 63 Designo in for a 2011 XJL supercharged and am in love!! The first time I saw the XJ I almost gave myself whiplash and wasn't in a car. I loved my MB (in fact I've owned two also a CLS 500) and I knew they were introducing the new style so I purposely waited to test drive the XJ until I personally saw and drove the new CLS. They are two different cars and shouldn't be compared but I just wasn't crazy about the new look CLS. The swoppy doopy tail lights and the snub nosed grill. I was shocked after being a very happy MB owner for 8 years that I decided on the Jag. I have no regrets and will go back to MB in a heartbeat if the time comes.

Yes, the EU made a deal with Obama to send the leper population to Molokai.
