Yeah, M-B hired an ex Hyundai designer a year or so ago.

It's not as "bad" as it sounds though, Designers jump around a lot, and if Mgmt is good at any company, they'll manage the Designer into conforming his/her talents to fit with the Mercedes, etc., image. If they're not, then M-B's will look like Hyundai clones (already there to some people, but that's because Hyundai has been the ultimate mash-up copy-cat).

Like Hyundai's or not, their new designs are one of many reasons why they are practically the "hottest" up-and-coming car maker out there. So M-B seemed to be keeping its eye on the ball.

Front end looks SICK. Like a W212's evil-stately grille/face/evolution of the F.L W221's, with CLS lights, and larger mass.

Greenhouse looks fine. Rear sucks, but with some heavy tweaking, I could see it coming out decent.. Side creases are way too busy, and suck.

 

I cant stand Hyundais ,kias,suzukis,daewoos, or any of them other cheap asian cars.
They are crap.
I hope mb doesnt start making Hyundai clones with mercedes badging on them.

Stop the worry. Mercedes is best. The next S600 and S65 will be the car of all men. The car is meant to show strongness and tells the other people we are in control of business. If Mercedes make an S that you dont like maybe you should change the thinking because Mercedes knows what strong men and bosses should drive. Mercedes always builds cars for strong men and captains. If you think the next S is not look nice what will you do. You will be laughed at if you buy some lexus bicycle and bmw is for boys and audi is a joke. Maybe Bentley but nothing less than benz.

 

Frankly, I think this is just fan art. The front looks almost same as MY2010, and the rear is a poor rip-off from the E Class that is DOA on the S Class as far as I'm concerned. I very much doubt that the rear would look anything like this, way too heavy.

 

I'd hate to derail anyones train, but has anyone thought what they might put into the new S? When I saw the specs and options for the W221 in 06', a N/A V8 pulling 382 HP?, 7-Speed?!!?, Night vision, the new comand. God knows what MB will come up for the W222.

Way to early to speculate what the W222 will look like. Although many sources claim that some styling cues from the F700 research vehicle would be used. My advice is until you see a rendering from AutoBild or anything by some guy named Huckfeldt, don't take it seriously. In my experience, those two sources of renderings are the only ones that end up looking close to the real thing.

 

I doubt this is anything close to the real thing, this just looks like a mash up of different MBs and concept MBs. The front lights are from the C218 CLS, the lower bumper a W212, rear bumper and exhaust from an E550 Luxury Sedan and rear taillights modified C218 CLS. The side character lines are straight from the F800 research vehicle.

 

The rear HAS to be a fake. It looks terrible. Way too sparse, unrefined, un-elegant, and poorly executed.... And like you said, "heavy".

The front is stunning though. I love M-B's current Luxo Sedan face; it's like their classic models, but with modern dynamism. They have an "evil grin" without going the way of cheesy. Just a very dynamic facial expression, that says a few things. I hope they just evolve that (like this artwork), instead of starting a whole new language up there.

Hi all. I am really not sure, but is this the (maybe) 2012 S Class in the pic I have posted below?? Today I happened to accidently stumble upon it on facebook. I saw that a friend of one of my friends had it as a profile picture, clicked on it and saw that it looked a Mercedes but had no idea which model it was. After seeing the spy shots of the 2012 S Class, it seemed to me that this was it, or is very similar to it. Anyway, I scoured the internet for maybe half an hour to search for pictures of it and found absolutely no real ones except the spy shots. I have no idea how this person found it or where they acquired it from and it isn't mine in any way. Having said that, this looks a lot like a Hyundai and I do hope that this isn't one and that I haven't made a complete fool of myself.

 

The vehicle in the picture posted is a Ssangyong Chairman. The brand, Ssangyong, essentially copies many other car makes such as MB. The vehicle posted is basically their version of the S-Class.

 

It looks like what Hyundai's doing, lol. In fact, it looks like a Genesis with a different front.

 

Yes, this is a Daewoo. South Korean copy of the S Class... Their prev version of the Chairman looked like a cross between the last two generations of S Class... Why is there no originality in the world??
