Angry Tri-State Roads

The roads in the Tri-state are slowly draining my pocket.. just put on some 20 inch S63 wheels on about 2 moths ago and to my surprise both front wheels are cracked already.. 2,130 for 2 front wheels

North of Boston, I dont even bother with anything remotely performance/low profile... Very short life for that with potholes, cracks, raised sewer grates, construction, etc....

I went through 9 tires(!!!) last winter/spring in my old c class (low profile) and now that I have my S Class 4matic, and ML 350, there have been no tire issues... I hate the roads here too!!

The trade off of course to get the roads like in Germany is to pay $8 or $9 per gallon in gas with the road taxes they have over there... Cant win!

lol.......couldn't agree more,

I do sympathize however, as I just had to replace a tire with only 2500
hundred miles on it, due to debris in the road.......I hope this doesn't become a habit....

not that it was a 20' or anything (damn), that sux

You're in an area that traditionally have crappy roads and I've had my own experiences with dented wheels. This is the price you have to pay for, but unfortunately it doesn't matter what size wheels you're rolling on.

Very true. Thankfully I have been through 3 sets or wheels (going on my 4th) with no cracks or bends. These roads here are definitely a PITA. I won't even take my car into the city.

You guys got me worried! My S has my first set of 20's. Have been on 18 & 19 inchers for years with no probs. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe Ohio roads are nice.

does insurance pay for these damages? If so, may be time to reduce the deductible!

No money to maintain the roads. But some public school superintendents make $400K/yr on long island - plenty of cash for that.

it all depends on your driving style also. Most of my car's have 22's on and the road here in Boston is not getting any better also. Just keep your eyes open and watch the road? Again, these car's are really heavy so the wheels are taking a lot of stress on them when hitting a pot hole.
